NP here: I can't stand Trump and MAGAland, but Colbert hasn't been funny since he was on the Daily Show and the Colbert Report. His comedy on CBS was just lazy and smug, which is too bad since he can be hilariously witty.

number 1 means nothing when they all have bad ratings. His show is also expensive to produce with a huge staff. All and All this makes financial sense. If late night is successful again you have to stay out of politics and also be funny.
