It doesn't really matter. None of those night shows perform well. None of them. He could be hilarious and we're still just going to watch Netflix. The vast majority of people under 60 years old are on streamers and you can always tell how old someone is if they start complaining about Fox News. Like okay, but only retirees are watching it so settle down.

You don’t cancel a show because the president had a tantrum because he doesn’t like getting made fun of. Totally unacceptable. Is that the kind of place you want to be in? May as well be in Russia.

Since that's not why the show was cancelled, there's no need for you to fret. It's been stated (and cited) multiple times that the show was losing millions for the network. It's a business decision. But do continue concocting political conspiracy theories.

For the scene in question, he wasnt making fun of Trump. He was criticizing his boss's choice to settle out of court, which was also presumably a business decision.

People and companies care about making money and not losing money. The number of people who are willing to burn it all down because they dislike a president who will be in office 4 years max is pretty small, because most people are relatively rational.

cbs needed this merger to go through. The federal government (trump) ultimately approved all mergers . cbs announced they were not renewing Colbert’s show.

The merger was then approved.
