I haven’t seen many questions … just a lot accusations in an anonymous forum. If you have questions you should reach out directly to the club leaders.

I have a good idea of who you are, but mentioning your name would likely lead to this message being deleted, just like others that raised valid questions (not accusations) about what’s been happening at DCSC. It’s unfortunate that concerns relevant to the situation are being dismissed or hidden from the club’s members.

I’ve recently heard a number of negative comments about DC Soccer Club, and I’m trying to better understand what’s going on. I was under the impression that field access was the main issue, but it seems there may be deeper concerns related to the leadership.

What have you heard?

They probably won’t. There are SEVERAL coaches in this area that won’t even schedule games against DCSC or even scrimmages because of past litigation and settlements outside of court. People won’t talk about it but it hurts the kids, especially in DC.

This is just the next round of issues. I am not sure whether this is normal or not at other clubs.

Huh? I am not some diehard DCSC defender and my kids are in because it's convenient but what are you talking about? My kids have played against basically all the DC area teams.

But also as a lawyer, why would any opposing club care if the other club had its own litigation issues? You don't face any liability for playing games against them.

We are not with DCSC but my kid played against one of their teams last weekend within the NCSL. The kids played well and seemed well coached. The main complaint I hear from DCSC parents are the fields they play on. Apparently they often have very limited space on the field for practices and train at dark with no lights. The current drama is quite unfortunate.

Looks like we’ve got 16 pages of families asking for transparency, clearly, there’s a lot of frustration, even though some say everything’s fine.

Mohamed was my kid’s coach, and like many others, we were happy overall, though field space was always a challenge. But then things changed fast, coaches and directors left, new ones came in, and many didn’t stick around. Families started leaving too, some because their coach left, others due to issues like board members influencing their kid’s placement.

More teams were created to fill the gaps, but soon families began asking: why are we paying over $3K for travel soccer, and what’s going on with the decisions from the new Executive Director? It just doesn’t feel like a great fit. These concerns aren’t just noise, they’re real. And if there’s any truth to the sexual harassment claims, that needs to be taken seriously. I hadn’t heard anything about it until this thread.

The coach turnover and parents complaining about placement is normal around here. And remember, a bunch of their newish coaches came from Arlington and McLean- these are big club.

I would like more information on the sexual harassment claims. Can anyone share more details?

It seems that the majority of coaches from those clubs have already left, and many more are expected to leave this year. From what I understand, only a few original coaches from earlier eras remain, like Mike on the girls’ side and Kenny on the boys’ side. Both of whom have reportedly considered stepping away as well but looks like will stay one more year at least.

There also appears to be a shared concern among coaches regarding the Executive Director’s leadership, which may be contributing to the continued staff turnover.

To be clear, I don’t have any direct knowledge about the reported sexual harassment situation.

Let’s be clear; sexual harassment allegations, no matter who makes them or what gender is involved, should be taken seriously and handled through proper channels, not mocked or dismissed.

Dismissing someone’s claim as “desperate” or laughing at it doesn’t make the situation go away. It actually raises red flags. Whether the evidence is compelling or not is for investigators to determine, not for anyone to ridicule publicly. A fair and unbiased process is the only way to get to the truth, and minimizing the accusation only makes it harder for anyone (man or woman) to come forward.

Public ridicule has its place. That’s why it should be independently investigated. You do have to wonder what he held back bc what he sent makes himself look like a fool. He made the choice to disclose his evidence which tells me he is at the end of the road. He got nowhere with the club now he’s trying to elevate himself by destroying people/the club.

Not the PP

I agree that all sexual harassment claims should be taken seriously and investigated with a fair and unbiased process. It’s also the case that claims by men are sometimes taken leas seriously since people sometimes just think they should welcome the advance or something. We should not assume that and take claims seriously.

On the other hand, there are processes for pursuing claims that include complaints, maybe lawsuits, etc. Setting up a rival company and stealing company data is not a sanctioned remedy to this kind of thing.

DCSC is alleging that Tom was planning to split for a while and take who he could. I don’t k ow if that’s true but there’s a tinge to this that he did plan on that, and then when something happened that made him feel wronged, he just then felt justified in pursuing his competitive business goal without regard to his contractual agreements.

Slow your roll there. If you had read his email and the screenshots that he sent around to the entire club then you’d understand the point above. And if he’s going to put his case out to the public, then why shouldn’t the public comment? He doesn’t seem too concerned about proper investigations if he’s handling it this way. I can’t imagine his lawyer (if he has one) is happy about this.

Interesting how defensive this response is, almost like it’s coming from someone with a lot more at stake than just concern for the club. The sarcasm, the insistence on “public ridicule,” and the effort to discredit him personally instead of addressing the allegation objectively… it raises more questions than it answers.

If this really were just about protecting the club, wouldn’t the focus be on transparency and due process? Instead, the tone here feels more like damage control than impartial observation. Makes you wonder who’s really feeling threatened.
