I don’t even see a VP listed on the DCSC website. Who intervened to put their kid on the team?

Anonymous wrote:As a parent, I wanted to share our recent experience. My son currently plays for the 2010 Boys BSC team but also tried out for the DCSC team, which we understand is considered a stronger group. The coach was very encouraging and expressed interest in my son, but also mentioned he was planning to leave the club. He shared concerns about the actions of the current Vice President.

According to the coach, one board member whose child was on the team ended up removing their child from both the team and the club after the VP reportedly intervened to place his own child on the top team. We also heard that several other families made similar decisions or voiced concerns over that situation.

The coach also mentioned that this particular team is now on its fifth coach in less than two years, which raised some red flags for us in terms of stability and continuity.

For now, we’ve decided to stay with BSC and will reevaluate our options for next year.

Thats because they are talking about the VPOTUS, not VP of DCSC.

I think the person is referring to Dave Wakeman, but I could be wrong. I remember hearing some rumblings about it when it happened last year, but I try to stay out of other people issues in the club.

Does anyone have any additional information about Tom Walsh and Michelle Alioto?

Regardless of what may have happened between them, Tom’s email to the families negatively impacted Michelle’s reputation.

TThis entire situation stems from Greg A.'s lack of proper management, attempting to conceal it due to his personal relationship with the CXO. This information has been publicly known for years, dating back to his time at the Herndon soccer club. The CXO's resume lacks any credibility as a chief executive or assistant to the ED. The incident should have been reported to safesport by TW since the ED failed to do so. Had this been done, there would have been investigations and individuals would have been interviewed. The president of the club lacks the courage to take any action to address this issue. It is certain that if it were TomW involved, the ED would have been on channel 4 news boasting about his commitment to women and equality. There are numerous respectable families in DCSC who deserve better than this. Perhaps when DW (the club president), son, graduates, he will take action. However, I highly doubt it!

Great point!

Many DCSC families have been discussing this, especially after the former director sent that email in June. A parent recommended I check this forum to better understand what’s going on. I also heard from someone close to the former director that there’s a lawsuit against the club, with a private investigator involved, and that DCSC may be trying to settle out of court.

Defamation lawsuit?
Anonymous
Labeling public concern over this situation as “defamation” is not only inaccurate, it’s deeply troubling. We’re talking about allegations against Michelle Alioto of sexual harassment and abuse of power. The law is very clear: such allegations must be reported to SafeSport and the appropriate authorities, not buried or downplayed.

If a club Executive Director, Greg Andrulis, failed to report these issues, failed to inform families, and attempted to manage this internally (brushing under the rug) that’s not just unethical, it may be a violation of federal SafeSport regulations and the club’s own duty of care.

Let’s stop mischaracterizing efforts to seek transparency and accountability as “defamation.” This is about the protection of minors and institutional responsibility and that should never be up for debate.

Ouch...that seems to be as clear as it gets regarding this.

DThe DC soccer club operates as a recreational club. The reluctance of players to train outside the Jellef area or travel to games is apparent in their low participation levels during league games and trainings. The necessity of an Executive Director, Assistant Executive Director, Director of Soccer, Technical Director, and other similar positions within a recreational club raises questions. Why must parents pay over 3K just to be affiliated as a travel club? The lack of results and quality leadership at the top level do not justify these expenses. Is this all just to cater to a select few individuals' egos and financial interests under the guise of being a travel team? Since the appointment of GA, the club has failed to make any progress in developing fields, players, or fostering an environment conducive to player growth. The mismanagement within the DC soccer club has inadvertently propelled the success of neighboring clubs. The club's "fake it till you make it" approach is proving to be a costly burden on its members.

Even if all these allegations are true, how would the club failing to report an adult harassing another adult have anything to do with the protection of minors? I personally don't care what happens to Tom Walsh or Michelle Alioto. I would care very much if the victim in this situation was a child.
