What rules are you breaking that work for you?

Never married, never lived with anyone, and stopped dating six years ago. Life is bliss.

I got sick of being the childfree employee at my last job and getting crap from coworkers who were parents when I wanted to take time off. And also getting extra work dumped on me when they needed to be off for concerts, award days, mommy & me breakfast, etc.

Trust me, if you're childfree and starting a new job, toss a photo of a kid in your life on your desk. Someone will assume it's your kid so you roll with it.

Oh my god it's Mike McClintock's fake dog from Veep

The only makeup I wear is lip gloss that costs less than 2 euros. I am going into teaching after years at home not because I have a calling, but because it is the only work I can do competently enough to regain my dignity.

Are you German? This is a German thing (and it's cool)

When I moved to America, I started using paper plates and plastic cutlery. This is just not done in Canada, especially Vancouver. I don’t care. I’m so excited to just throw away my plates. I work long hours and this is just really lovely. I love Americans for bringing this lazy habit into my life.

I have my own bedroom/bathroom separate from my husband's. I find myself much more attracted to him without having to be a part of his snoring, bathroom habits, etc.

I’m a nanny and have an imaginary boyfriend and ‘step son’. We’ve been a ‘family’ for 11 years. I kept working for people who didn’t respect my time off work because I was single and thought that meant I could work 7 days a week, 70hrs a week. Now I spend holidays and weekends uninterrupted with my ‘family’.

I left my ex and have less than 50/50 custody and work outside the home. Yes it’s 2023 but I still feel judged for this.

My partner and I take two weeks out of the year where we go off anywhere we want and hook up with whomever we want. It has made our lives so much better.

1. Not drinking.

2. Not trying to keep up with the Jonses.

3. Holding people's birth inheritance, i.e race, parental religion, gender, diability etc against them.[/quote]

You’re a terrible person.

This is truly horrific. But if it works for you....

It is my stress buster. I have ADHD tendencies and this trains me to take the time, stick with and finish tasks. I love the results also because my clothes look new. I especially love bed linen that are ironed.

I am a terrific home cook and cook many different cuisines. I try and cook from scratch and the taste is amazing.

I love how happy it makes my family, but most importantly, I know I have finite number of meals to make for them and so I want them to have the best food experience at my table.

Why is that rule breaking?

Don't worry, I hold people's poor spelling against them.

I actually don't like the feel of paper and plastic disposable plates and cutlery. It feels poor and sad and it degrades the experience of eating. Food and entertaining is big in our family, so after putting in the work of buying the freshest ingredients and cooking a delicious meal, why would I crap on it by serving it in disposable plates?

when I moved to America, I had the money and space in my kitchen to buy 50 identical place settings, cutlery, drinkware etc and now I use that only. I never run out of plates, glass, cups etc and I even entertain using the same dishes. It has been many years since I have had more than 40-50 people over for meals at one time.

My American indulgence is running my dishwasher all the time and at any time. Thankfully, we have solar panels and so I do not feel too bad.
