I don’t respond to texts, emails or phone calls that I don’t want to engage in or don’t think warrant my attention.

I am a very lenient parent. The only things I insist on are that my kids are kind to one another, don't disrespect teachers, brush their teeth, and participate in family dinner. I didn't think I'd be like this but my first kid just could not handle even the slightest redirection and when I backed off and got very choosy with my battles, things got so much better (turns out she is autistic). Now she is 14 and so far so good. It seems to be okay for my 11 year old too.

Buying aluminum tins to bake in was a total game changer for me. No dishwasher, so being able to bake and then throw out the tin instead of scrubbing reduces so much stress. I also buy plastic ware and paper bowls.

The consumer is allowed to do this. What a tiresome, ignorant urban legend.
