Conservative DCUM'ers: how far back do you want LGBTQ rights rolled back?

Anonymous
Being LGBT still comes with higher rates of violence. The threats against the community has been spiking lately. I believe that is because politicians keep talking about how they’re coming for your kids.

Something very bad is going to happen if they keep it up. They think they can win elections in the meantime, but a large event of violence against the community will swing public opinion, and cause a lot of unnecessary pain.

I’m a socially conservative immigrant who votes democrat. The following are too much for me:

- talking about gender identity and sexuality in elementary school. Have no problem with talking about how some kids have two mommies or two daddies. But when students are taught about sex in 4th grade I’d rather it be introduced as a means of reproduction. I feel sex as pleasure should not be discussed until middle school.
- parents not knowing if their kids are identifying as another gender. This is a medical issue. Parents have the right to know whether their child has socially transitioned.
-pretending that biological sex is a social construct. Women are adult human females. Females are the sex with the large gametes - the ones, where if everything is functioning properly, have the capacity to get pregnant. Males do not. It’s as simple as that.

Everything else I’m ok with, including gay marriage.

Oh one more thing I forgot to add - drag queen story hour in schools and public libraries. Pretty disgusting. Let’s stop that.

Why should we stop drag queen story hour? If someone wants to take their kids to it, that's up to them. Why should you get to decide what others do? Just because you're "socially conservative" you think that your opinion of disgust about drag queens is something everyone should have forced onto them? No one is forcing you to take your kids to drag queen story hour and you have no right to force others to not do s

Why stop there? Give kids open access to porn as a parent and rated R movies to 8 year olds where they’re blowing off the heads of bad guys in action movies. Who needs to filter content for their kids at all?

Again, other people's parenting of their children is none of your business. If someone wants to take their kid to drag queen story hour, they can do so and it's literally none of your business and you have no say over what they should be allowed to do.

So I’m sure you would agree that if someone else’s kid says they’re trans, but the parents, having known them since birth, suspect that they’re reaching for that explanation mistakenly, it’s none of your business, or the government of California’s

It is not because politicians keep talking, it is because they do come after kids, and people see it happening in their own classrooms. Maybe members of these communities should leave kids along if they really concerned about their own safety?

Honest question - for number 1 why don’t you just sign the permission form for your child not to participate in sex Ed?

You have your head in the sand. Do you not let your kids interact with other kids? Should those parents be barred from talking with their kids about sex in terms you don’t approve of so your child is never exposed to information you don’t want them to have? Do your kids ever have access to the Internet or smart phones? I guarantee you they are seeing a ton of sex related information.

So you would support a parent showing hardcore porn to an 8 year old because ‘their choice’.

You are one sick and demented individual.

You are one sick individual to jump from DQSH to porn. It shows where your mind is.

Are you talking about conservative politicians or religious leaders railing against LBGTQ? It seems like a lot of them have been arrested from coming after kids lately

I am in complete support of equal rights and protections for gays and lesbians. What I don't understand is how the celebration/affirmation of same-sex orientation like pride parades came to be associated with overt and vulgar sexual displays. Gays and lesbians are just like other people; their sexuality is a range from highly sexed to asexual. They don't necessarily have more sex than others. What's the deal with nudity, bondage etc.? What does this have to do with equality and respect?

1.Mind your own business but don't flaunt sexual activity in front of children. That goes for heterosexual and homosexual activity.
2. No transition for children. Some kids think they are superheroes. We don't let them jump off tall buildings to see if they can fly.
3. Don't call people bigots because they think kids should not have surgery a la Dr. Mengele.

When you say sh-- like this, comparing transition to a Nazi torture doctor, you are in fact a bigot.

This is probably not the place for explicit descriptions of the results and complications of bottom surgery, but I think it is extremely unfair to call someone a bigot for recoiling at the idea of it and at it being done to young people who often have a range of other psychological issues

Kids aren’t getting bottom surgery. People are losing their minds over social transitions and puberty blockers because they’re terrified they won’t be able to look at a person, and figure out what kind of genitalia they have. That’s creepy as hell. No one has the right to know what’s in someone else’s pants.

It’s way more complicated than that. You think hormones therapies and gender changing drugs are risk free? No, when you mess with the endocrine system with growth hormones and other hormone regulating drugs, you heighten the risks for a slew of major health problems like cardiovascular disease to cancer to strokes.

Yet democrats want MINORs to make informed health decisions for elective procedures that could significantly harm their health in the future when democrats keep telling us those same minors have immature brains and not fully developed decision making skills when it comes to crime. It’s so, sooooooo hypocritical.

Minors aren't making decisions without their parent's agreeing to them.

You haven’t been keeping up to date with what Democrats are pushing for. They want minors to be able to decide even without parents.

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/transgender-minors-protected-from-estranged-parents-under-washington-law

https://www.kptv.com/2023/04/17/washington-bill-would-allow-transgender-medical-procedures-minors-without-parental-consent/

What could possibly go wrong with the same minors who make TikTok ideas eating Tide pods making decisions to take gender influencing drugs with significant side effects that heighten risks for major health issues over the long run?

If a child needs to leave the home because of religious bigots that hate trans people and are abusing them in a southern red state then that sounds like a good reason for a blue state to protect them.

What a effing idiot you are. Don't breed.

It would be best for you not to respond to this poster or anyone who uses the argument you are responding to. The poster's response is uttered in every discussion on all media platforms. There is no point trying to engage someone who is reading from a script.

Anonymous wrote:To add, I don’t want anything “rolled back.” LGBT people are just people, like everyone else. They should (and do) have all the rights everyone else has. Can we please just move on without having to constantly discuss/celebrate/emote/signal?

No we cannot. Because those rights are at issue. And a big part of the right dehumanizes or is offended by LGBTQ and their existence. Those people are my family, my friends, my neighbors, people I care about. So no, I'm not ok with dismissing or "moving on" just b/c that is easier for you.

How are their rights being taken away when they are partying at the White House and freely holding pride parades all over the country? No other group gets as much positive publicity from public and private institutions. I can't wait for straight pride month celebrations...but we don't have that do we?

First of all, we have a SCOTUS who has signaled a willingness to roll back rights at the fed level. As have some states. But you already know that.

And straight pride? God you are a big baby aren't you? EVERY MONTH is straight month. And you can't handle a single month of inclusion and acceptance? You poor thing. I suggest you deal with it.

Inclusion also mean inclusion of all groups. Otherwise it is not the inclusion. It is the exclusion.

Very easy to make white people celebration month. Straight people celebration month. Then they can no longer protest the hypocrite.

Every month is straight people month. And there is no need to celebrate inclusion when they are already the default. The included. They are not being scorned, assaulted, harassed for being straight.

You know this though. So this argument is a complete bullsh--, snowflake deflection. And honestly, you look like a whiney little b$%# making it.

Lastly, I do not have to tolerant or inclusive of bigots, or bigoted opinions, or candidates that want to deprive my friends, family, etc. of their rights, which is the issue here. Not pride. Not some crocodile tears over not straight history month. So peddle your nonsense somewhere else.

Please take your harmful speech to Twitter or Reddit. We like to keep our discussions civilized.

People asked to do that, in response you have Democrats like Councilwoman Kirstin Mink excoriating Muslim school children as being 'white supremacists' and MAGA supporters for asking to do so.

Just be honest. Democrats think it should be forced learning material. People did listen to you for asking to opt out, then Democrats tried to assisnate their character for no reason. There is logic with you dems.

So a parent should be left alone to parent their kids but only if said parent is affirming their child's trans identity?

Nah, let's get rid of Pride in schools instead. The historical tides are against them. They catastrophically misplayed their hand. What we're seeing here is the beginning of the correction that is long overdue.
