If you're from Florida and want to go to university in Florida then Gainseville is a great option (particularly for business and STEM) - but if you're out of state and going there it's because you could not get better options.

Because it is a whole state. Next it’s a few states. Then it’s the entire country. This is a huge problem if we intend to survive as a country.
If the goal is to separate that’s fine too. I’d prefer to avoid a war. You can keep Carolinas -Florida BUT we get Miami and south.
It’s too diverse for you anyway.

Why is he getting rid of resources for students that emphasize support for ethnicity — and not all similar resources and programs? If the focus is on “core subjects in education “, is he getting rid of all of the sports and recreational programs? If not, why not?

And of course if his priority was truly using tax dollars well, I’d really be interested in the funding for the Martha’s Vineyard stunt.

Today, HB 999 will be proposed by Ron DeSantis. If this bill passes both chambers on May 5th, the following will be removed from Florida’s College Campuses:
- NPHC Organizations
- NMGC & Latinax Organizations
- Jewish Studies courses
- Gender Studies courses
- Centers & Programs for Black Students
- Centers & Programs for Latinax Students
- Centers & Programs for Asian & AAPI Students
-Center & Programs for LGBTQ+ Students
This will pass.

Anyone who sends a kid OOS to Florida for college moving forward is brain-dead. This will pass. And it is only going to get way worse.

I agree. Anyone who was thinking about sending your kid to Florida for college is either brain dead or is fine with promoting straight white Christian supremacy.

New College of Florida has less than 700 students. And, yet they had a DEI person with staff. Best use of resources?

Possibly. It’s hard to assess without knowing more about their needs and their resources.

I posted a Bob about their needs and resources in the original intent of the school that should not be hard to ascertain why it's a Target especially considering that instead of being open to all religions they are purposely going to make an ultra conservative college.

There are calls to withdraw accreditation from New College, &or all FL public colleges if HB 999 passes.

Not only this but scholarships that come from the Federal government will be gone.

And yes they will all lose accreditation by 2024. However, if Repukes win the WH then it's all over anyway and camps are coming for Jews and other minorities. And yes this is the plan. DeSantis is not origininal.

I do understand why they’re a target. I have no idea what a “Bob” is. My intended point was that instead of simply waving a red flag about “a DEI person with staff” the PP should have at least tried to make a substantive comment about this particular school and student body. At least say something about needing updated lab facilities or whatever, instead of just trying to score MAGA points by mentioning “DEI” without any specific context.
