I have been stating on here for a while now that Rs need to switch to D to vote in the primaries. Otherwise, your vote is a throwaway, and we may end up with an uber progressive.

Independents need to switch, too. 3 of my neighbors are Independent. I'm like, "That's a terrible move." They ONLY get to vote for the school board in the primary, not even the judges (which are on both the R and D primary ballots).

I'm an independent, and I loved my BOE-only ballot. There's no way I'm registering as an R or a D.

So you don't want ANY input on Governor? or County Executive??

I have input in the general election. The political parties can nominate who they choose. I'll vote for whichever candidate I feel would do a better job, regardless of their political party.

I know you think you have input in November, but you don't. Not on the County council or County executive, at least. As another poster said, when was teh last time an R won?

in 2018, the county executive nominee from the Democratic party won by 77 votes out of a group of 6 running. Who knows what the final vote count will be in 2022? But we know it will be very close. If you don't think every vote matters, then you're not thinking.

I'm not advocating for or against Blair, Elrich, Reimer, Rose Krasnow, or any other candidates from 2018 or 2022. I'm pointing how close these two primaries are.

Similarly, if I were an R, I would have felt compelled to vote Schultz over Cox, but that's me. (Former R, now registered D, but mostly an I) We switched R to D several years ago because we wanted to have some input at the local elections.

It's so odd to me when people think like this. Anyone who votes has input, whether their candidate wins or loses. You're not supposed to vote for who you think will win; you're supposed to vote for who would best represent you.

Who says what you're "supposed" to do.

But, if you don't register as a D for the primary your vote is just a throwaway. As a conservative, you have the chance to vote in a moderate D. Otherwise, your principles of voting for a "R" means an uber progressive will win. You are cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Nobody knows what will happen at this point.

Were they counting ballots today? 777vote.org makes it look like there was a count scheduled for Aug 3 (as well as Aug 5-6), but the state page hasn't been updated yet (right at 10 PM on 8/3)

It’s hilarious. They keep blaming the lack of RCV to absolve themselves of their obvious and apparent stupidity. But then then they also contradictorily claim that Riemer votes would not have gone to Blair and therefore their stupidity is not responsible for reelecting Elrich. Which is it?

They don’t seem to understand how RCV works (all Riemer votes would be dissolved) or live in a fantasy world that RCV would magically make Riemer less disingenuous and more people would magically rank him first and he would win.

I think the candidates disingenuousness is spreading to his supporters.
