Highland park IL shooting

It’s all about our easy access to deadly, high powered firearms and extended magazines. Remove those from the equation and see where we are.

People need to understand: the GOP wants you to be surrounded by guns and fearful of your fellow citizens. It's much easier to control the country if you cannot enjoy a parade, a public event, your church, or any other community institution where you meet and interact with others in the community. They want you atomized at home, in a gated community, with a bunch of guns in your closet and bars on your windows listening to their media.

High powered guns that rapidly kill on the streets of this country is EXACTLY PART OF THEIR PLAN. The more gun crimes and chaos, the better it is for Republicans to enact their goals and policies.

Arguing over whether or not he was a Trump supporter is useless. There is no evidence that this was politically motivated. Another young white man who left behind a trail of red flags. Easy access to guns is the common denominator, not politics.

When we consistently see shooter after shooter aligned with one radical politics, it seems hard to ignore the connection - and unwise, as well.

Radical Republican mass murderers. Try saying it - and then let's do something about it.

The politics of all the shootings is this: the left didn’t want any of the shooters to have easy access to weapons; the right did. You arm delusional people. This is the effect of your cause.

Also, the school shootings are all part of the Republican's plans to end public schools. As more people get scared and pull their kids out, the school systems - particularly in Red States - will collapse. They want to force mothers to stay at-home and do home schooling. This will just keep successive generations poor and uneducated.

It's all part of the game and you didn't even realized you're already on the playing field.

There are preliminary reports that the gunman was “known to police.” Why? Was he arrested? Did he have a history of contact relating to mental illness? Why was he allowed to have access to guns?

The most powerful fringe segment of wealthy white conservative elites want to retain their power at any cost imaginable. They will start systemically killing people - Holocaust style - if they are not stopped now.

They want guns to flood the streets because they want you to feel like government cannot protect you. If government doesn’t protect you, they are hoping that you’ll acquiesce to a strongman conservative authoritarian.

It’s a classic bait and switch - they create the problem and then try to convince you that they are the only ones who can solve the problem they created.

This is chilling and rings true.

My money is on the shooter wants to accelerate things so that the authority tries to confiscate guns and ammo. If that happens things will get very very bloody, fyi. And that’s if the police are willing. The only laws that truly exist are the ones enforced.

I don't think you have it quite right. The left doesn't want any of the shooters to have easy access to weapons, so they want to ban the weapons. Whereas I would be happy to see these "known to police" types appearing on the NICS so that they cannot legally purchase the weapons.

Yep, be scared and you won't think rationally or critically

Why aren't more police forces actively speaking out against these stupid gun laws that make them less safe?

Most police departments have contracts with gun manufacturers and are prohibited from speaking out.

Yes to banning certain weapons and clips but no to banning all private ownership of firearms. Pretty much this has always been the liberals position but some are so exhausted by the senseless killing they are speaking out of exhaustion.
