BA.2 surge hitting US in April/May

As for me, I'm never doing any of this again, and I will actively fight it next time. I put up with this shit last time even though I disagreed with it, but this is stupid. Seriously I never thought I would find myself agreeing with republicans but here we are.

I don't think restrictions will happen though, bc politics....we have elections in november lol.

Same. No way I’m going along with this again.

I rarely see high quality masks properly worn by people.

Where are you looking? In the District almost everyone is wearing N95s or KN95s. Our offices are handing them out and we're all ordering them online now that they're widely available. Because... we're not idiots. Your cloth mask-focused arguments do not match reality.

I live and work in DC and this just isn't true. Most people, if wearing masks at all, are wearing cloth or the fake "surgical" or "medical" masks. A few wear KN95s. Definitely not most.

Yup. And the ones wearing KN95s are definitely not wearing them correctly. They think they are though! And that’s what counts!

The KN95 comment is nonsense. They’re the exception, not the norm.

Yup. Buckle up folks.

Nope.

I'm really glad most people here don't want to wear N95s. More masks for me!

I am am always surprised and amused to see people still wearing the same flimsy pointless cloth masks when out in the supermarkets. Shouldn't everyone know by now those cloth masks do nothing?

They do know. That's not the reason they still wear a cloth mask.

I will continue to do exactly what I’ve done for the past 2 years: followed the regulations, but nothing more. If the mask mandate comes back, I’ll wear my mask.

It’s worked — I haven’t gotten COVID, nor has DH or our 5 year old. We’re all vaccinated and boosted (except obviously for DD) and I feel no need to over comply.

Immunity vs omicron is immunity against ba.2. It's only a slight variant. Vax/booster immunity is also comparable between the 2 strains.

Exactly. I wear one to avoid judgment because no one where I live wants to drop them.

+1

Me too! Right when mask mandates went away my skin broke out. Masks until I clear that up!

I really don’t understand why you’re surprised. Masks are a placebo. Most people realize that, but seeing people in masks still makes them feel
better because that’s what has been beaten into them for the last 2 years.

Trump's minions (maybe Putin's too--to the extent that there's any difference) have been starting and perpetuating hundreds of antimask threads here for months.
