I teach in a neighboring county. I would have had to call in this week if we were open because my kid is Covid positive and need to stay home to take care of her. I am negative. Maybe it’s a similar situation.

APS needs to provide transparency by school. Right now it seems they either don't have the right data or won't share. Either is completely inappropriate. Many believe they're covering up for a sick out by some percentage of teachers.

Positives by building in the past 7 days. Additionally there are another 43 that are out due to being close contacts.

The last 7 days there has been no school. The last 10 days there has been no school. The last 14 days there has been no school.

Adult covid spread is high and has nothing at all to do with schools being opened.

Schools can't open because adults are spreading covid to other adults?

Why can't the adults take precautions? Why can't the adults stay home?

Especially fascinating are the Syphax/Central office numbers.

as an APS teacher, I think a lot of the anti-teacher sentiment is being driven by the extremely vocal, COVID obsessed teachers. we've mentioned the most vocal already in this thread. I can't blame parents for lumping all teachers in with them and disliking them. I can barely stand those teachers and wish they didn't act like they speak for all of us. why don't I speak out? because I have a life and would rather spend time with my family and getting off the computer instead of speaking at every single board meeting grandstanding with complaints and arguing with anybody and everybody who has even a slightly different opinion from me

ACPS has got rid of one in the past 10 years. They just came to some agreement regarding payment for the remainder of his contract and claimed it was mutual agreement.

I'm not actually seeing a lot of anti-teacher sentiment, just enormously frustrated parents with kids who are behind and who want them back in school and learning. I like my kids' teachers. I also want my kids in school and don't consider that position to be anti-teacher.

I agree, although I think that most of the anti-teacher sentiment should be directed at Syphax, not the teachers. I also think that this teacher is pointing out a basic flaw in our system of government. The only people who have the energy to show up at all the meetings are either fanatics or those with financial interests. I don't have the time to show up at all the meetings to discuss covid, any more than I have time to fight the people that want to convert all the roads to bike lanes, or to bulldoze all the trees to build condos, or build schools on precious park space.
