news just broke on the case. Sad, but, in my opinion, fair.

Good.

Thank god. What an ass.

who?
Anonymous
oh, him. yes. thank god. so arrogant in the new yorker article.
Anonymous

Deport him.

Can a naturalized citizen be deported? If the answer is yes, if the person gave up their original citizenship to become a U.S. citizen, where do you deport the person?
Anonymous
He isn't a naturalized citizen. He's here on a visa.
Anonymous
They should deport him. We have enough assholes and homophobes here already.

A naturalized citizen cannot be deported. They are Americans. There was some talk during the Bush-9/11 days to do this but it didn't happen (thank god!). DH is naturalized but in many countries you can never give up your citizenship. He is American though since he was naturalized at 18 and doesn't consider his country of origin to be home (he moved here at 13).

Am I the only one that thinks the media really skewed this case?

1) He never filmed the roommate having sex (just kissing)
2) The roommate was not closeted, he was openly gay
3) The roommate's Mother just a week earlier told him she was disappointed he was gay and didn't approve of his choices.
4) Ravi sent an email (before he jumped off a bridge) apologizing and saying he had no problem with him being gay.

When I was a college freshman lots of stories like this happened between (straight) roommates. Freshmen at college are basically idiots. I think his mother's rejection had more to do with his suicide than his roommate. Of course there is no proof since there is no note.

I agree with him being convicted of privacy invasion, but don't agree with the other counts.

The media skewed the case, but so did you. only number 1 of your assertions is true. 2 and 3 are not true. 4 : an email was sent, but it could be seen as a CYA email due to new knowledge about the events having been reported to Rutgers officials. Read the New Yorker article. http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2012/02/06/120206fa_fact_parker

This whole thing is a tragedy all the way around, but your distortions are just as skewed as some of the exaggerations of the media.

I actually also think the media skewed the case. I think Ravii is a jerk and should be thrown out of school but clearly the jury overstepped and came town hard because Clementi killed himself..which they weren't supposed to do.

I've read the NYer article, and I don't agree with your assessment that number 2 was false. He was out to his parents and some of his friends.

From the article you just posted: "In fact, there was no posting, no observed sex, and no closet."
