When I was a college freshman lots of stories like this happened between (straight) roommates. Freshmen at college are basically idiots. I think his mother's rejection had more to do with his suicide than his roommate. Of course there is no proof since there is no note.

The media skewed the case, but so did you.  only number 1 of your assertions is true.  2 and 3 are not true.  4 : an email was sent, but it could be seen as a CYA email due to new knowledge about the events having been reported to Rutgers officials.
