Her father is a decorated veteran of WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Her family history dates back to the American Revolutionary War. She herself is a decorated veteran who devoted 22 years to the military and lost her legs in combat. If Trump tries to make light of her heritage or her family history, he's done. He's barely hanging on by a string now and that is because of the hardcore Republicans. If he even dares to question the birth or worthiness of a decorated combat veteran with much deeper family ties to this country than he himself, it will only seal the landslide. He already has much less support from the military than just about any other Republican candidate in the last 50 years. He could go down as the only Republican to completely lose the military vote.

He's probably not that stupid, but you never know.

She answered a question about honoring George Washington by saying that we need to have a national "conversation" about that. Not someone I would support, buy I am grateful for her service.

If a sitting US Senator is unable to come out and say, "Of course it is not OK to wipe away monuments honoring George Washington," then she should not be serving as a senator, not to mention VP.

Instead she panders to the far left wing of the Democratic party.

This is evidence how a Biden administration will kowtow to the far left extremists in their party.

She said there should be a national conversation about the fact that some of our founding fathers were also slaveholders. How is that not a measured response?

And it's strategic, since she needs to have BLM cred for a shot at being picked.

I’ll take bets her son will have lost confidence in Trump with this COVID mess and will support his mother. Just another turned voter.

Duckworth has been working with Jill Biden on military issues for a long time.

Her and others. It is not even close to the nearly 8 years of daily interaction. Biden and Rice were in the room where the tough decisions were being made and if he didn’t trust her to help him make those decisions she would not be still in the running. Also, it seems her daughter got it right. She has BLM fundraiser up.

I hope he chooses Susan Rice.

Sorry you'll be sad, but she won't be the VP pick.

NP. Because this statement does not call for a "measured" response. The idea that we need to have a "national conversation" (which is code for - listen to the anarchists and people trying to destroy the country) about the fact that our founding fathers were also slaveholders is ludicrous. We do not need a "national conversation" about this well-known issue.

When has the stopped Trump/GOP? Do you really forget his barbs against the Gold Star family? Against McCain? The GOP's swift boating of John Kerry?

Yes, but the people who jump on that particular train wouldn't ever have voted for a Biden ticket anyway. With her military service and personal sacrifice, Duckworth would be the closest thing to teflon in a VP candidate.

I think you oversell her. She is not garnering a significant amount of military voters than any of the other women up for VP. Plus her record on defense spending is atrocious and she will likely be cast as a war hawk. She also has some past legal troubles regarding ethics violations that will haunt her.

Interesting...the Atlanta Mayor Lance Bottoms has COVID, it might actually elevate her status.

Why? She has zero symptoms.

Bottoms seems to be the name of the moment, but the woman has zero charisma. It may be superficial, but it’s important.

I love her.

I'm a diehard Democrat, and she's one of the few Democrats in Congress I dislike. She is so unnecessarily nasty and rude to witnesses in hearings, constantly interrupting and asserting her dominance even when they're trying to answer her question. It's bewildering how she treats people...who are on her side even! Strongly hoping she isnt the pick.

Biden doesn't need diehard Democrats. He needs independents and conservative Republicans in mostly Midwestern states.

Her clapback to Tucker Carlson was fantastic. She's the only prospect who can smash the 'unpatriotic lib who doesn't love her country' meme the right thrives on. I agree with PP she can be acerbic and lacks polish, but she can work on that.

Dennings also fits an all American theme...regular church goer, former Police Chief, rides a Harley as and has a 9mm. She also is a better speaker and there are no grounds for questioning her citizenship.
