The White Lotus season 2

I mean, I know she was an idiot, and that would have destroyed the satisfaction of having her kill her would-be killers. But still.

I mean, could she have? Who? Especially as they’re pounding on the door telling her they know she’s not in the bathroom and needs to come out. The threat reasonably felt more urgent than “time to text people in America to figure out how to reach Italian police.”

They deserve each other, both morons 😂

I don’t think Albie is a moron at all. He very calculatingly threw his mother under the bus. He is willing to lie to her face about how the vacation went for his dad, in order to get some money for his hookup.

^^^ I mean, I know she dropped the phone. But before that. Quentin had said they were going to eat dinner on the boat. She could have said she thought she would take a nap until dinner. They weren't planning to kill her on the yacht.

No way Greg’s getting that inheritance (if they even show it, which I doubt they would). The circumstances around Tonya’s death are far too suspicious, and Portia will piece together what happened and likely tell the cops. Also they have the framed photo of Greg at the crime scene which will be used as evidence of some sort.

Although Tonya died in a dumb way (befitting her character), I still am satisfied that she thwarted Greg/Quentin’s plan.

Dollars to donuts in season 3 we hear somehow (Portia anyone?) that the inheritance didn’t go to Greg so next in line was the lady at the spa at the White Lotus Hawaii so she could open her wellness center.

It seems like the more he paid Lucia, the less guilty he felt about being sexually aggressive with her. At the end in the airport, all three look/lear at the beautiful woman in the airport. I think the guilt free experience with Lucia allowed his masculinity to open up, and Dom and Bert have reached revelations too and toned down, so that now they are basically all at the same place.

When Dom was looking at pics of his family on his phone and crying, the wife was not Laura Dern (despite using her voice on calls).

This storyline was essentially concluded, so there’s no reason to being afin back.

It was fishy from the beginning that someone who looked like Jack would show interest in Portia. That scene in the pool when they met was out of place for a reason.

Albie and Portia are both naive suckers and I’m glad Mike White drove that point home at the end so we don’t have to rehash the conversation about how deluded and naive Portia’s worldview is relative to Jack’s.

Another point about Jack is that in this whole thread no one mentions he’s a victim when he clearly is either a victim of a predatory older, privileged man or a victim of child abuse or both. A lot of untold demons in his closet that he’s trying to drink away.

It’s funny that the only true friendship in the show is between Lucia and the piano player. Cameron and Daphne seem like they actually like each other but their friendship is too twisted.

The “you f your uncle?!” and Tanya telling the captain the gays were trying to kill her in vain were hilariously cringe.

Great ending to a great season. This is the best show of the past 10-15 years.

The Lucia / Jack comparison is interesting because Lucia is a sex worker who is sold to viewers as an apparent victim but is really a hustler who’s preying on men’s sympathy like Albie, while Jack is portrayed as a predatory monster but in the end is a real victim of a predatory older man who leverages his power, money, and untold other things over him to manipulate and abuse him.

I highly recommend everyone watch the directors interview at the end of the show. It explains a bunch and hints about next season- which it sounds like their will be! He said season 1 was about wealth, season 2 about sex and season 3 will be about eastern religion/death.

After Greg leaves Tonya mentions to Portia that she just called her lawyer to try and get an annulment. That will be part of the case to contest Greg getting her money.

no, I definitely thought the point was that he knows and he hates it but his deal w daphne is that he plays the good dad to them so she doesn’t leave

Portia needs to decide if it’s worth it to speak up
