Very early pre-season rankings for 2022 season. Obviously a lot can change between now and March 1st. Kids might leave their current school and some of these schools mentioned below might add in a few key transfers as well.
Early Top 5 for 2022 Season: 1. SJC: Cadets will most likely be the best team in the entire DMV region. They bring back a very talented 2022 class and have already added a key transfer at the faceoff X. 2. Georgetown Prep: Lil Hoyas always have depth. They graduated the deepest senior class they have had in a while, including several offensive starters. Their FOGO and LSM will keep them in most games next spring. Are the DC Dawg's ready to take over? 3. Landon: Bears bring back most of their team from this past Spring. The Bears have some very talented younger players, all of whom started last year as freshman, and one of the top middies in the league not mention a very strong goalie. 4. Paul VI: The Panthers were young and talented last year... will this be the year they finally put it together. Many would argue with Watters stepping down, PVI should finally get over the hump. The Panthers have a loaded attack group and a very good fogo, they should be able to score in waves next spring. 5. Gonzaga: the Purple Eagles always have the bodies and are super athletic but do they have the firepower to compete with SJC and PVI. Honorable Mention (in order) 1. Bullis: always extremely well coached and very competitive. TheBulldogs graduated one of their best classes in a long time and arguably the best goalie in the state of MD last year. Depth will be a major factor. Bullis does return the best player in the IAC next spring in Tucker Wade and top LSM as well. 2. Saint Stephens: the Saints bring back most of their entire team from this past Spring. Always well coached and always find away to beat one of the tops teams in the IAC every year. 3. Episcopal: The Maroon will be back next year as the border between the US and Canada is open and I've been told they have a few Canadian imports arriving on their campus this fall. 4. DeMatha: graduated a deep and talented senior class. New era for DM lacrosse with Dave Mitchell arriving. DM will take a step back next Spring, I dont care how many kids Mitchell tries to bring with him over to the Heights. |
| Yorktown should be number one. |
If you have to keep begging people to pay attention to your team, perhaps you should move your child to a different team. |
Someone has no idea what they are talking about. Most of the top players pay full tuition. Why? Because they can. |
It wasn’t. Seems to be right up there with baseball. Need the championships to catch up. |

Looks pretty accurate to me. I’d switch Bullis with Gonzaga because they have more offensive playmakers. SJC is going to far and above everyone else Bullis is going to be better than most are giving them credit for. Though they lost a talented senior class, they didn’t play well together as a collective bunch. They bring back the best offensive player in the area next year and the Harvard LSM. The under classmen are bought in. I wasn’t impressed with what I saw out of Gonzaga at NHSLS. Been losing too many kids to Prep, SJC and even PVI the past 3 seasons, their ability to “reload” like they were doing 5 years ago, are long gone. |
| It’s hard to be impressed with them when they have to play sjc. Sjc is just too good and no one stands a chance against them next year. Gonzaga got a very good win against Lawrenceville. |
|
Laweranceville is not the same team as they were in the spring. Missing several guys from the spring team but regardless a good win for Gonzaga.
It’s SJC all next year and everyone else battling it out for 2nd place - sorry |
| Lawrenceville just got a bunch of really good transfers from Long Island. |

Here’s my top 10 for 21-22. I did the same thing last year and was spot on. Only underestimated PVI and The Heights.
1. SJC - Pretty self explanatory. They are graduating almost no one and keep on bringing in new transfers. Expect this team to be ranked #1 nationally. 2. Prep - Rising Junior class is filthy; filled with DC Dogs players and they still have their star FOGO. 3. Bullis- Junior class is just as strong as Prep’s, but don’t have the 22’s and 24’s to match them. 4. PVI- Big time Senior class, but they graduated a STUD goalie. See them as the only WCAC team that can upset SJC. 5. Landon- Best ‘24 class in the area, but they will only be Sophomores. Not enough to carry Landon past the top IAC opponents. 6. Gonzaga- Dissapointing year for Gonzaga, but they have some strong rising seniors, and are very well coached. 7. St. Stephen’s- Top Attackman going into his senior year who will carry SSSAS to 3-4 IAC wins. BIG GAP HERE BETWEEN TEAMS 1-7 AND THOSE 8-10 8. Heights- Relatively impressive 2021 season, almost knocked off PVI and DM. Graduated little talent, and have the best goalie in the area. 9. DeMatha- Graduated all 10 of their starters plus most of their top backups. Big hire with Dave Mitchell, but the program lost too much this year to retain its stance as 2nd in the WCAC. 10. Albans- Strong ‘23 class as well with maybe the top LSM in the area. Their FOGO is great too. Let’s see what Heeter can do with this new talent. |
Trust me Episcopal is going to be strong next year. Until STA can win more than a game in the IAC, it’s hard to rank them higher then 10. Great to hear they have a strong 2023 class. The Heights at 8? Really…. Almost knocking off doesn’t equate to wins. Bullis graduated a huge senior class and has very little depth next season. PVI brings back everyone except their goalie who was the real deal. I’d go with the following. 1. SJC 2. GP 3. PVI 4. Landon 5. Bullis 6. Zags 7. SSSA 7. DeMatha 8. Episcopal 9. St Albans 10. The Heights |
| funny. Where is Yorktown? |
And then you rank them 9th? |
Nobody cares about Yorktown. Public school lax will always be garbage. |
