Most Crossfield neighborhoods are closer to Western than Coates and McNair, and many are closer than the eastern part of Fox Mill Estates. |
I think you're missing the point. My point was about the uncertainty. For what it's worth, I know several Crossfield families that are also opting in. I know that doesn't fit into your narrative, but it's true. The RIO families are a small portion of people at Crossfield and Carson. There are more Navy families in their Facebook group and on their petition than Crossfield families. |
You're talking about me and you have some narrative in your head that there are absolutely no Crossfield families that want to move to Western. You are wrong. You are however correct that I'm not from Oakton. I am a Crossfield parent who lives in Oak Hill. Not Oakton. I'm not part of the Oakton community as my PTO president would like you to believe. She's concerned about one thing and one thing only - her child's sports prospects. |
I am not surprised. I can see parents preferring a shorter commute. I don’t expect fox Mill to be in boundary, I hope that it is but I expect that Meren will quash any shot. |
Sure but there will be a difference in opt in numbers between Fox Mill and Crossfield. That’s what matters anyway. McNair, Coates, Oak Hill and Floris (except for Eastern part) are safely in. |
I get that you want your Crossfield kids go to Western. But Crossfield is not closer to Western than Coates and McNair. |
Some of its neighborhoods are closer. But, it is pretty much a wash. One thing for sure: Crossfield neighborhoods are way less than half the distance to Oakton--and, time wise, probably even probably a third less. |
Of course Western is closer than Oakton. We all get that. But Crossfield is not closer to Western than the other elementary schools, and it’s not a wash. Get your facts straight. |
So, all the Crossfield kids live at the school? You do know some of them live pretty close to 286/West Ox Rd--less than two miles from Carson? Some are near 286/Franklin Farm Rd. In other words, a very large portion of Crossfield kids live VERY near the new school. So, the distance is a wash. But, the fact remains, it makes no sense to send them to Oakton. |
I’m not disputing your view on whether or not Crossfield should attend Oakton or not. However, all the boundary review discussions have focused on the distance between ES and HS not individual neighborhoods. Crossfield is being considered for rezoning to Western because it slightly beats out Navy for furtherest ES away from Oakton. |
Strongly disagree that they are focused on the location of the school itself. And, in any case, the neighborhoods are even further away from Oakton. Look at the Crossfield boundary map. It is clearly at the very far edge of most of its population. |
|
OMG, we are not talking about the location of the school, we're talking about where people live. Look at school boundaries. Most Crossfield families also live closer to several other elementary schools than they live to Crossfield. It's in a weird location. So yes, a lot of us live closer to Western than families that go to Coates and McNair even if the schools themselves are physically closer. |
You're an idiot. Look at the neighborhoods where people live, moron. |
Wow. This is actually....not accurate. At all. |
