The Fairfax Health District shows 7 new cases over the last day. I follow the test positive 7 day averages and typically not the case count, but barring some reason yet to be announced any time there is a single digit number of cases it should be a positive thing, right?

We had a few days recently where the new number was between 10-15, but 7 is the lowest I’ve ever seen for a single day here.

Head of Operation Warp Speed came out and said he expects the vaccine to have efficacy in the 90% range. I was blown away by that comment and made me think they’ve already determined who the front runner is. Regardless, this is great if it holds for phase 3 trials.

So are you saying that’s good or not so good? Doesn’t seem terrible.

Not terrible, but kind of cancels out the day we only had seven.

Sounds promising I think?

I think so! I’m more hopeful that some reasonable treatment options combined with a somewhat effective vaccine will have us in a better place this spring.

That's why it is called cherry picking. It's wrong to do it for high or low numbers. But the MSM prefers picking the worst numbers to write their headlines because it gets your attention.

Weekends always skew numbers. You should know that by now.

More evidence that exposure to other coronaviruses, which cause the common cold, creates T cell memory that reacts to the Covid virus. Perhaps this explains some of the large variation in people's outcomes after being infected with Covid. This also supports the idea that there's a level of pre-existing immunity already in the human population.

yep, NVAX has been KILLING it! I have some former colleagues that work there. Stock has been soaring and good for them - positive results from P1/2. Also worthy to note that Bill Gates specifically mentioned Novavax a week or so ago on CNN when he was rattling off contenders in the vaccine field. Good for them. Local company done good.
