I have a DD who plays for one of the teams "in the mix". Her team has played all of the teams listed here except Richmond United and BRYC. Of all of the teams they have played (SYC, FCV, Arlington, SYC, VDA, McLean, Vienna, Loudoun) I would put VDA as the best. They are very technical strong in all positions of the field. Very minimal drop off when the starters are replaced with bench players. You don't even notice. IMO Arlington is probably the next best team. Their problem is they don't always play as a "team". They have a very strong midfield but there is sometimes breakdown once you get closer to the goal. We were able to hang in there with them because they racked up a bunch of penalties due to their aggressive playing style but they were definitely a better team. SYC is also strong but relies on a few players and has a big drop-off from their top players to the others on the team. The others are pretty equal IMO. Having played both FCV and Arlington I am shocked to hear that FCV beat Arlington. We played both and were dominated by Arlington both times yet we totally dominated FCV. I would be interested to hear what happened in that game.

FCV has superior coaching, training and players. Easy answer

LOLOLOLOL My stomach hurts from laughing! Oh wait...was this sarcasm? The coaching part certainly has to be!

For anyone who knows these teams, it’s sarcasm, heavy sarcasm.

Knowing that colleges recruit individuals not teams good coaches and good training system matters most.

Exactly. FCV does NOT have superior coaching. Not by a long shot. Players athletic ability, attitude, soccer knowledge, and ability to think ahead matters the most. Colleges recruit individual players - not coaches.

For the other 99.9% of the teams in the area, the coaches have to actually develop their players.

Coaches do not develop players after u13. They develop teams and replace players to make the team stronger. Just go watch the practices. There is very little skill development after u12.

This is incorrect. In most cases such as PW$I and V$A they do not develop players after U9. It is up to the parents to decide if they will pay the coaches for training on the side. Most parents at these clubs are spending $200 to $50O a month to keep there DS and DD on the top teams.

You paid Quan too I see. It was money worth spent for my DD to be on the roster.

No I had to pay TK.

Whos TK?

Parents pay an extra $200 - $500 per month? That's a joke right?

PW$I? That’s the first time I’ve heard that one and I’ve been at the club a long time. Always the cheapest around due to geographic location.

This is correct. At $60 to $120 an hour it adds up fast.

Yes - this is unfair. My DS played for Quan a few years ago (long enough I'm not revealing my identity). Quan also runs HP Elite - I think with his dad although it may be mainly Quan in charge these days. Many kids on the team elected to pay for training at HP Elite during the quiet periods of the year. The programs were not crazy expensive - and Quan did not pressure anybody to attend. In fact we only even found out that HP Elite existed because other parents on the team recommended it to us based on their kids' experiences - they found it useful and enjoyable. Plenty of kids did not attend any HP Elite courses. The kids that did not go to those sessions were not penalized in any way wrt playing time

FYI, Bethesda Cup is in search for one team this coming weekend because they had a team dropout.

Please contact the tournament director if your team is available.

Nobody knows because they never enter any tournaments. They are currently 11th out 13 in ECNL Mid-Atlantic.

They are struggling and from what I have heard Clyde is getting rid of this team next year. I think he realizes he does better with the middle of the ECNL age groups. He really doesn't want to deal with the younger ages where they really need a lot of development. I heard next year he takes 2007 and 2006. Nadir/Brent are taking older 2 ages. They are bringing in someone new for 2009 and 2008. Might be a coach from the boys side.

Private training, weight training - outside of the club - not mandatory

Interesting because I heard Clyde likes the younger age groups and prefers to turn over middle/older to Nadir/Brent.
