coaching a team where none of the players on the roster have a drop-off in playing level is a luxury - the coaches can focus purely on team performance and not have to keep developing the players.

For the other 99.9% of the teams in the area, the coaches have to actually develop their players.

Players will leave because of your coach

I have a DD who plays for one of the teams "in the mix". Her team has played all of the teams listed here except Richmond United and BRYC. Of all of the teams they have played (SYC, FCV, Arlington, SYC, VDA, McLean, Vienna, Loudoun) I would put VDA as the best. They are very technical strong in all positions of the field. Very minimal drop off when the starters are replaced with bench players. You don't even notice. IMO Arlington is probably the next best team. Their problem is they don't always play as a "team". They have a very strong midfield but there is sometimes breakdown once you get closer to the goal. We were able to hang in there with them because they racked up a bunch of penalties due to their aggressive playing style but they were definitely a better team. SYC is also strong but relies on a few players and has a big drop-off from their top players to the others on the team. The others are pretty equal IMO. Having played both FCV and Arlington I am shocked to hear that FCV beat Arlington. We played both and were dominated by Arlington both times yet we totally dominated FCV. I would be interested to hear what happened in that game.

Actually - both times that FCV 08 has faced Arlington '08 this season - FCV has won. So yesterday's game is not a one off. The last time Arlington 08 beat FCV 08 was a friendly last August. Don't discount FCV '08 they are a top team in Northern Virginia.

merging the two teams into VDA and having the 2008 as a strong team isn't really because of the coaching - the top players on two already strong teams were selected, and that's hard to beat.

The same thing happened with Richmond United. When the 2008 age group was U12, Strikers was very strong, and Kickers was also a pretty strong team, although strikers was better. Taking the top players from each team just puts their athletic and technical level ahead of any other program in the area.

VDA and Richmond United are only as good as they are because they are formed by the merger of two strong teams.

If SYC 08 and McLean 08 merged and you only took the top 9 players from each team, then that would be theequivalent. or FCV 08 and Loudon 08, et cetera. Even normal ECNL teams have some drop off starting at player #13 but VDA and Richmond United do not.

Too many medium high level clubs now and the NOVA commutes are bad. Nobody is commuting anywhere unless the team is worth commuting for. Hard to believe kids would leave SYC for a team that is just as good as SYC.

Let them leave then. Come to Arlington for high level competition. Leave if you can’t handle it.

Nobody wants to go to SYC they're in the ssme level with CYA and Potomac. Arlington kids are better off going to a ECNL club not a CCL club. Who's left to play in CCL anyway? SOCA is in GA now and every other clubs has their B/C team playing?

People ECNL clubs are always looking for new talent go check them out, maybe try Loudoun?

Very lame recruiting attempt, paid staffer.

Your club is notorious for lacking any quality in coaching. Add to that your politicks and dirty corrupt MO and there is no reason why to give you a dime.

Kinda sad you have to justify your salary by patrolling Internet forums on a Sunday morning.

2 years left of ECNL. Clock is ticking Ryan/O’Hara

The local ECNL clubs drop off after the top 3-4 players not 13-14.

Coaches do not develop players after u13. They develop teams and replace players to make the team stronger. Just go watch the practices. There is very little skill development after u12.

This is incorrect. In most cases such as PW$I and V$A they do not develop players after U9. It is up to the parents to decide if they will pay the coaches for training on the side. Most parents at these clubs are spending $200 to $50O a month to keep there DS and DD on the top teams.

You paid Quan too I see. It was money worth spent for my DD to be on the roster.

FCV has superior coaching, training and players. Easy answer

LOLOLOLOL My stomach hurts from laughing! Oh wait...was this sarcasm? The coaching part certainly has to be!

Knowing that colleges recruit individuals not teams good coaches and good training system matters most.
