Whatever the temperature of the community is currently, it is the direct result of the actions of those 24 families/players and the coach, DSA and principal at Hayfield High School. There will be an * next this team for many years to come and they have earned it. Good luck in the playoffs to all.

Those kids were leaving Freedom regardless. They weren’t staying. They followed the rules of the VHSL and FCPS by moving into the Hayfield zone.

Yeah, except they didn't all move into the "Hayfield zone" so they weren't following the rules.

Also, several of them broke the law by claiming to be homeless. At this point I think they should be charged. That all parties involved have shown zero remorse for their actions is disgusting, from FCPS, to the Hayfield administration, to the negligent parents of the kids who transfered, to the coaching staff etc...

The allegations you make were proven false by the people of the commonwealth of Virginia.

No, they weren't. Seriously you should sit this one out, it is pathetic how little you know about all of this.

Well they are back in the playoffss

They deserved to be in the playoffs more than Hayfield.

Robinson Girls Cross Country team won States today. So three state winning teams for Robinson in 2024. Football ain't everything.

The Robinson lacrosse parents are every bit as obnoxious as the Hayfield football parents.

Do the Robinson lacrosse parents go along with schemes in which their children lie about being homeless in order to enroll at Robinson?

Asking for a friend.

Well they are more economically advantaged at Robinson so they find better ways to fake an address there.

You are ridiculous.

Committing fraud is highly illegal with jail time associated with it if found as a higher level misdemeanor or felony conviction. Maybe the Fairfax County DA should get involved, just to shut these people up. Overton cheated. 24 parents/player cheated. I would love to see these parents and administration sit in a jail cell for a little while and think about their actions. One school with shady intentions and individuals ruins a loved sport for 8 other schools within the same county. I hope the VHSL sticks to there guns and continues the ban. It just won’t be for this year. It would be for the next two years. The DSA and principal should be fired. For those that don’t know, the DSA is white and the principal in black. DEI firing. No one can complain.

Yea yea yea. Historically the white supremacists took out the white folks who weren’t helping enforce the system of white supremacy. John Brown was an example.

Well said and best summary of this entire sordid saga. Only thing to add is these grown adults not taking responsibility for their actions sadly continues to feed into current cultural climate of deny and distract when caught. The lessons the kids of this generation are being taught by adults are shameful and will be long-lasting. Profiles in Courage indeed.

Great summary, and the sad thing is that Michelle Reid facilitated this and the School Board tolerated it - all because they are hard wired to defend this minority coach because they mistakenly think that’s what progressive people do. It is like that superintendent in MCPS who defended the Black principal who was engaged in serial sexual harassment - they think they won’t be seen as “allies” unless they paper over the misconduct.

In the process Reid has made a mockery of the goals of fair play. The complicit School Board may have just extended her contract but they are all utterly compromised and deserve no respect.

Yeah, the big issue in VHSL is coaches running non-school teams and using them as recruiting vehicles for their high school team.

Because she has!! When people are upset about not getting their way. They will slander anything.

Look how folks have slandered and called Coach Overton everything but coach.??that man made a decision to leave and people want to blame him for other people wanting to follow. As been stated, parents are free to move how they see fit. And not one thing says Overton himself violated, so yes very true people will slander your name for what they feel will benefit them

Why would you think for 2 seconds that it is reasonable, fair, ethical, right to drag a bunch of students to a school they aren’t zoned for to make a super team and brag about beating everyone? The VHSL has rules SPECIFICALLY to stop this. You will justify anything to put your kids front and center at the expense of everyone else.

Pathetic

I don’t know if all the school board members are following this football story. And if they are, they likely all support Hayfield as well. They had nothing but praise for Reid and her work to raise FCPS to even greater heights.

Hayfield supporters have long said that’s more of a cultural thing and not to get too worked up over it, ie hayfieldby40 or the new hayfieldby70. It’s part of a motivational thing. Although I’m sure it’s tinged with a bit of revenge going forward.

This is typical. Drag students from different schools and build a super team and then insult other students who you claim are soft. You need to go back to your bible and remind yourself about honesty and humbleness. Neither of which you seem familiar with.

THIS ISN'T THE NFL AND OVERTON IS NOT AN NFL COACH.

It's disgusting how you have trampled all over the rules and ignore any semblance of fair play.

Oh right, all the other students need to get out of the way because the Freefield team is now all about showcasing your Freedom HS student's athletic ability to scouts.

It would be amazing if the Freefield parents and coaches would just admit the truth.
