Beach house extended family vacation- why do women spend 80% of their time in the kitchen?

And OP, you needed to phrase your question better. The real question is why women are expected to do all the domestic work even on vacation.

Whether an individual woman enjoys cooking is not the point here.

These threads always give me flashbacks to "vacations" with my ex-ILs where woman were "the help" while the men sat drinking beer with their feet up. Never again for me.

Ha, so a bunch are upset that op doesn't understand they like to cook, and that op should be open-minded that some people like to cook.
At the same time, it seems that those pps are not so open-minded themselves as they hate the beach and keep asking what moron likes the beach!

Why not just go the simple route? the kids and dads don't care if they eat cereal or carryout or PB&J sandwiches, so why do they overengineer every meal?

I work full-time in an office, so I WANT to be OUTSIDE with the kids as much as possible.
Basically, I want a real vacation. Not a new full-time kitchen job for a week.

Evidently they like to cook. They have a right to like things you do not.
