I’m a teacher. Trust me, they will all be masked. |
I’m the OP of this thread and the thing is, famous last words...Braband and company haven’t exactly been a shining example of foresight and strategic thinking. The situation with Delta is different than what was anticipated when some of these statements were being made at the end of the school year. I so don’t want concurrent but if enough kids are out of school for whatever reason the pressure is going to be on them to revert back. From my perspective, so many missed opportunities all along. Why are the public schools not doing any kind of regular testing, even daurveillance testing or pooled testing? |
I’m a yea her and here’s my thoughts on this: IF they offer “quarantine concurrent”they can still claim this statement was accurate because we aren’t teaching whole concurrent classes but students who may need it here and there. And IF “quarantine concurrent” is the deal it won’t be like last year’s concurrent - we won’t be expected to be at the device teaching to it and making the lesson fully accessible virtually. It’ll be something like “open a google meet and aim it at the board so they can follow instruction” with no requirement to monitor a chat, teach both groups, etc. Probably just watch if you need to , do assignments, contact teacher if you need help. Parents, your best plan if you want do avoid this hassle : vax your kids. Help us all out. We want them there learning too. |
Perhaps, but at the elementary school level aiming a camera at one spot such as the board isn’t going to gain much for you during much of the day. |
Or you could have them drop a couple AP classes... Oh no... |
^^This. You may very well be asked to produce a negative COVID test. |
ES students can miss a month and won't miss a darn thing. They don't need concurrent. |
Nope. |
I'm a teacher and I don't even believe the "no concurrent" plan. I do believe we will not be doing it everyday but I do not believe that it won't appear this year. |
I teach elementary. This is really the best you should hope for this year. |
Pp here, also an elementary teacher. Yes, I agree. A child tuning in via a still camera is going to tune out quickly. It won’t be worth their while. |
| ES students do not need concurrent! MS students who are not taking HS classes don't need concurrent. Only HS level classes need concurrent and honestly unless it's math or science, they just need audio. They don't even need to see anything. |
I don’t think anyone is saying right now that they need it. Later, parents with a child at home might want it but the PPs are saying they don’t need it and won’t get it. Simply having a camera on is not concurrent instruction. |
And it's because of sociopaths like you that I'll be teaching in a mask and getting nowhere near students this year. Immune escape is bound to happen sooner or later--our classrooms are packed like sardine cans. |
Blame the school district and horrible quarantine rules and unforgiving HS teachers |
