Scratch that: Barr agreed to keep the deputy until Senate confirmation, which is unlikely before the election. |
He put out a statement on Twitter, just like he did last night. It's not a resignation, it just says he is leaving. https://twitter.com/SDNYnews/status/1274466470970474498?s=20 |
Has that ever stopped them before? I don’t believe Barr for a hot second. |
Agreed. The way this is all going down is more than suspicious. Anytime woke twitter gets all excited that Barr and/or Trump are getting their comeuppance, it never materializes. |
nope. it was Obviously worked out internally at SDNY. Once Barr backed down on the SEC head's appointment, it all fell into place. Coupled with Lindsay Gramam's comments, Strauss will be acting SDNY through the end of the administration. |
I think this is more of a stalemate. They wanted to stop the investigations by replacing Berman with a more compliant candidate. They got Berman out the door, but did not place their chosen Acting, and had to settle for Berman’s loyal deputy. Back to square 1, except they showed their hand, so I would say they lost the advantage of surprise. |
It's unlikely at all. What a misfire. Barr is on the hook for obstruction of justice, as is Trump, they don't get their crony in place and the person who remains in charge is a white collar crime bad ass. |
Sure. But that doesn't mean he wasn't fired and is accepting it. |
Yeah, that's what happens to loyal Trumpers, including Berman and Liu. They get fired, just like everyone else. |
Trump has 9 lives. Not so sure about Barr though. If SDNY really has something on Barr, Trump will cut Barr loose to save himself. |

I keep trying to figure out when we became cool with Russia. No one ever responds. It’s like, poof! Vlad and Kim Jong Un are cool. Let’s get them back to the summit tablez |

He’s only leaving because he negotiated that his second in command will become Acting, thus ensuring the continuation of all investigations. So, Trump and Barr did not get what they wanted.
What's to keep them from firing that person, after he leaves?
They could, but every attempt just makes them look worse and worse.
