I'm sorry is not really adequate when you knowingly threatened someone's life and are only doing so to avoid facing the consequences. If her apology is genuinely felt, good for her. I hope she does some self-examination and grows as a person. But I still believe she should pay the consequences of her actions. She will likely lose her job for becoming a public embarrassment. Wanted to add that I have a hard time believing her apology is genuine, given that she claims that she meant him no harm. Harm is precisely what she meant by threatening to involve the police, then doing so while lying that she was being attacked in a fake breathless voice.

Nuts to you. He was recording it because people do what this woman did -- call the cops on him. He needed to document that he was not threatening. He wasn't yelling at her, he let her spent more than a minute calling the cops, and he left when she finally leashed her damn dog.

And that dog was off-leash, which was against the posted rules, and it was apparently bothering him, possibly because it was scaring the birds he was there to watch.

She is nuts, but if the roles were reversed and it was a white woman telling a black man to obey the leash rules and filming him while making vaguely threatening comments about his "not liking what she was going to do," then the Shuan Kings of the world would still be calling her a racist playing citizen cop.

So we have yet another incident where people decide to publicize something as a way to underscore how they are always victims, or they are always woke, or whatever. At some point people will remember that conversation is actually better than filming everyone you have a disagreement with in an effort to get likes on social media.

I walk my dog every day. If I a (black female) let my dog off leash i'm sure I would be told to put him on his leash. I have only run into caucasions who feel as if it's OK for them to break the LAW and have their dogs off leash. She was breaking the LAW. PEOPLE KEEP YOUR DOGS ON A LEASH!

I leash my pit bull and I do dog rescue and I don't approve of her having her dog off leash or the way she tossed the dog around while on the ohone. I am glad they took the dog back and am sorry for the dog.

And the obvious "african american man" statements, clearly she's being racist.

People shouldn't make every disagreement or conflict a police interaction. She was ridiculous to escalate it like that.

Do we know for sure that they took the dog away? Because I would go take the dog from her myself - NO excuse for how she treated that dog, or that man.

Yes! There are so many aspects to what she did that were 100% wrong in my opinion and charges for this should be filed. We ALL should want that. I certainly want someone who feels entitled to falsely accuse me to the police to be held accountable for that decision.

Apparently police did report to the scene and both parties had left.

I think the way she acted was despicable and she is right to be called out for being racist and making a fake phone call. She could have seriously endangered him.

It is interesting to think how race affects all of these situations. I am a white woman. I am always wary of complaining and being labeled the next Karen and being posted on social media.

For example, I would be nervous to tell someone to leash their dog, especially if it was a person of color, because I don’t want to be publicized as one of those white women who gets in other peoples business. So I would be leery of even starting that situation as the man did. Now, I don’t think he is in the wrong. I get frustrated in situations like these when people are not respecting others right to public space, but as a white woman with all of the social media posts I stay clear

You offer apologies because it’s the right thing to do. But there is no expectation they’re accepted. A true apology is fixing and changing the behavior that led you there.

She really should be arrested for making a false report. And fined to pay for the police resources expended in following up on her false report. The only thing Ms. Cooper can do is leave NYC and restart her life elsewhere.

After a few therapy sessions and vacations, she will get another job . . . At a lower salary behind the scenes somewhere. She will work her ass off to prove herself again but never make the kind of money she did before this happens.
