(my inlaw's are assholes, if you didn't pick up on that)

Clintons. (not Clinton's)

Also, not inlaw’s.

Mr. Rogers! I was 7, my sister was 5, but my mother was the one who spotted him. We were in the Pittsburgh airport at our gate to fly home, and he was sitting there waiting for the same plane to NYC. He was polite and friendly and signed little pieces of notepaper to us "from your TV neighbor, Mr. Rogers." Didn't want to chat much though, he was reading the paper and seemed to want to get back to it.

Grew up in the same town as Chloe Sevigny and her older brother Paul (who grew up to be a well-known NYC nightclub DJ). Both kids I think felt out of place in our very conservative preppy small town, but they were way more popular/less misfit than I was, not social pariahs by any means. Chloe liked my sister but was not friendly to me and would look at me like I had 3 heads when we were at the same summer day camp (she was probably 9 or 10). Wore nightgowns to school and was very "alternative" in HS - by that time she was getting into the fashion scene in NYC. Paul was in my grade and was this goofy surfer/skateboarder type who dressed kind of like Jeff Spicoli, with the Vans. He was nice but may have been into substances. He left public school in the middle of HS, may have been sent away to boarding school somewhere, so I lost track of him. 10 years later, both of them were famous. I would not have expected that from either of them growing up.

Kate Bosworth right before and at the time she landed her first big movie role. Also in my hometown. I was a church youth group leader and she was in 8th grade. Very pretty, wealthy, well-dressed girl who would act very sweet to adults/kids and then mock them behind their backs. Definitely a mean girl, as were her friends, although she was the most polite to adults of her little group. Once she took off, they moved to L.A. for her career.

Gene Siskel when he came into a shop where I was working in NYC in the mid-90s. He was polite but not warm and had no charisma to speak of.

Condoleezza Rice in the waiting room at my doctor's office in DC. Had beautiful skin and a lovely smile and was very polite to the medical staff.

Bernadette Peters - a former neighbor of ours was her nephew and she and her sister (his mom) came to a couple of their parties. She is exquisite and had gorgeous pale skin with no wrinkles. You would never know she was in her 70s. She was sweet and somewhat reserved, had a NYC accent. I chatted with her for a short bit but it was awkward trying to just act normal!

He had a tour bus, and she was kind of hanging outside of it, when he stuck his head out, pointed at her, and gestured if she wanted to come in, so she did. It was very quick and she was back out. Typical 20 something sex I guess. She didn’t have to sign anything, and just said it was kind of fast and a flurry and she doesn’t remember much. Not a big deal

Was this before or after Dave Matthews’ tour bus dumped a load of poop on those people in Chicago?

Michael Jordan answered his own front door on Halloween when I was growing up outside of Chicago, and gave us king size candy bars and a wonderful smile with "Happy Halloween."

Vince Vaughn was so nice to me when I was his server at a bar in the early aughts. He was SO tall.

Michelle Obama spoke to jr staff at my office when Barack was still a senator, before his DNC speech made him famous. She was lovely and inspiring.

Do Washington Capitals count?
I live very near Nicklas Backstrom and Troy Brouwer (until he was traded), so i know both casually. I've also met several other Caps over the years, at events and running errands around Arlington. Every single one of them has beens nice, friendly and down-to-earth. Just regular guys, who like talking about their pets and kids.
Before Ovechkin moved to his big house in McLean, he had a fairly modest house in a local neighborhood. One of my kids went trick or treating there once, and said that Ovechkin gave them full-sized candy bars and seemed really amused by their costumes.

Here is one : Gayle King.
I was just an assistant at the time visiting with a couple of people more important than me. She was so warm and interesting and her eyes would turn to every person in the room as she was talking. As we were leaving, she said her goodbye and thanked me, addressing me by my first name. I really wouldn't be offended if she didn't remember it or skipped it all together like most people, but this made a huge impression, along with her pleasant and upbeat personality.

Yes. We’ve run into TJ Oshie and Ovie several time around McLean. They’re both really nice. Waiting to run into Strasburg.

Turns out he's a real pussycat. Used to carry her groceries in from the garage. Helped her start her grill. Sent her flowers on her birthday. I finally met him and he is very warm and sweet in person. He also has two cute teen sons on whom he dotes.

Love him in Chicago PD!

I assume you mean Starbucks?

We use the same vet, I've seen them there. Years ago Ovie would come to kids McLean soccer practice sometimes--he likes soccer. This was his rookier year, and couple years after. He's obviously oldre and more well known now.

Most hockey players are very down-to-earth. Have met all the Caps, friend works there.

Anonymous wrote:Eddie Vedder: drunk, extremely smelly, handsy.

Natalie Maines (dixie chicks): way shorter than expected, polite, reserved.

Tucker Carlson (does he count?): friendly enough, self-important in interpersonal interactions at social events.

Al Gore: very, very reserved. Polite. Carries a genuine (justified?) sadness about him.

Katy Perry: childlike (Not necessarily in a bad way, but like running on the beach spinning around and falling down laughing—not drunk). This was during the Russell Brand marriage. He was with her. He was more low-key and seemed exhausted.

Condoleeza Rice: polite, reserved, nondescript.

Nora O’Donnell: totally glammed out with rhinestone sweatshirt...at somber occasion. Beautiful, but it was a little odd.

John Malkovich: Exactly as you’d expect. Even with his kids at a rainforest cafe of all random places.

Tiger Woods: cold, standoffish.

Drew Barrymore: seemed very unsettled and even angry to be amongst regular people.

Diane Keaton: totally down-to-earth, no make-up, just doing her thing at her kids’ school. Socialized easily with us other parents. (My LA days).

Jay DeMarcus (rascal flatts): good ol’ boy, fun-loving, youth-group-kid who randomly got famous kind of vibe.

Kenny Chesney: a little odd. Hard to explain. Hard to read.

Mary Louise Parker: normal acting, except her skin is the most amazing skin i’ve ever seen in my life, so i found it hard not to stare awkwardly when we talked briefly. Such perfect skin.

Barbara Eden (99 from the original Get Smart): super, super nice. Loves to support up-and-coming opera singers. Humble. Amazing.

Pete Davidson: quite shy in person.

Neil Patrick Harris: seriously the most normal celebrity dude I’ve ever encountered.

I’m waiting for the poster to ask how you’ve met so many white celebs and so few non-white celebs

Barbara Feldon, OP. Barbara Eden is Jeannie, totally different.

So the Eddie Vedder poster and the poster with the friend that slept with Dave Matthews - are those two hot?

Phillip Seymour Hoffman: loud laugher but sweet and shy
