I was there tonight and she was threatening. Completely disgusting behavior. She was the worst but there were other McKinley people in the hall who were pretty bad. There were two neighbors who were horrified that buses would be driving through their neighborhood to McKinley as they walked to Ashlawn - seriously!!! They should be glad they are walkable either way.

My takeaways were:
- Large majority of McKinley will be walkers in the proposal
- ASFS population and surrounding is so large they can absorb ASFS and Key
- ATS can keep their name. They will be like HB move this year -everyone will go because they love the program.
- Key can move intact. Some people were only going there because it was close. Their population will fit in ATS just fine.
- Need to preserve VPI and ensure those classes are in the right places to best serve high rush populations.
- McKinley parents are possibly the worst in Arlington. They tried to throw other schools under the bus and when their arguments didn’t make sense, they just yelled.

Bottom line is that the McKinley mom may stroke out but her neighbors and their kids will be just fine. No different than the Fleet or Discovery redistricting.

Which schools did they try to throw under the bus and what were the arguments.

So bummed the recording isn’t available, hopefully tomorrow.

They kept screaming about Ashlawn like it was a Super Max prison. Why not Tuckaoe or Nottingham. Screaming that other schools would be under capacity. Psychos.

I would be angry if I paid and was zoned for a 10 school and got moved to 7 school which is a 30% drop which will show in home values and school quality.

Yeah, so what. No one cares about those who got rezoned from the former Henry to Drew. Being angry solves nothing.

As a former Henry parent who got rezoned to Drew, I am LOVING watching this whole process unfold. Parents having strokes because their snowflakes are getting moved from one amazing North Arlington School to a DIFFERENT amazing North Arlington school. Unbelievable. Also, could people please stop comparing the Fleet redistricting to the Discovery redistricting please? Again, this was moving children from a great school to another great school. Entirely different scenario.

Yes, you were being moved to an essentially new school and new program in a nicer and larger facility with a fantastic principal. It's totally different - there's no slide inside Drew.

I mean there are some students -and we know that 60% of them are FRL.

But overall WOW - In the context of people having a public nervous breakdown about moving from a GS10 to a GS7 school its pretty obtuse to pretend that moving from old Henry to Drew is an improvement cause there is a new principle and a nice building. PP must have absolutely no idea what or where Drew even is.

The GS rating arguments are a bunch of BS. The fact people here are giving them any credence to the relative quality of Ashlawn v. McKinley is utterly ridiculous.
60% is not nearly what everyone feared it was going to be. And, a 60% FRL school SHOULD be a smaller student body. And what a bonus that they have space to run and play and learn both inside and out.
