Also meant to say the camera does add 5-10 lbs. In her case and .. I’ve also seen Angelina Jolie in person (really, no details so wasn’t planning on mentioning it). AJ is SKINNY

I saw Aneesa from the Real World in person and she was smaller than on TV

Back in the 90s, I worked an overnight shift in a luxury hotel during college.

John Travolta would be meandering in the lobby in the middle of the night, and once he came and ate staff meal with us in the cantine at 3am. He was completely normal and super cool.

On the other end of the spectrum, Steve Martin was a total dick. He insisted that staff call him by his pseudonym and tried to get a server fired when she called him “Mr Martin”. When other guests approached him, he passed out cards that says “This card certifies that I met Steve Martin” without saying anything to them.

George Michael hit on me. Oh, those were the days…

Sorry - I meant to bold the part I thought was dickish - now done!

Personalitywise, she was basically normal to talk to...seemed a little out of her element at a normal-people party in Pennsylvania.

Gene Siskel came into a shop where I was working in 1995 in NYC. He just seemed normal. I never would have recognized him if somebody hadn't pointed him out.

I knew Chloe Sevigny growing up. She was very sullen/unfriendly as a child, just would stare at you as if you had two heads, and was sort of this waify flower child who wore nightgowns to school as a teenager. Her older brother was nice but kind of messed up, always dressed like Jeff Spicoli and I believe they sent him away to school finally, but he later became some big celebrity DJ and is very wealthy now.

Also knew Kate Bosworth as a teenager right before she started her acting career. Very pretty girl but no ego problems and a mean/queen bee type. I was a youth group leader and she was one of those kids who acts very sweet to adults but then mocks them behind their backs.

Interesting about Chloe Sevigny. This would be exactly what I would have imagined she would be like.

Steve Martin is notoriously dickish so I’m not surprised by that at all.

Camera definitely adds 10 lbs. I saw Cameron Diaz somewhat recently in NYC and while she is slender in photos, in person she looks like she will blow away in a strong breeze.

Anonymous wrote:The Goo Goo Dolls/Dave Grohl very chill, nice guys. Waited on them at two Great American Restaurants in the early 2000s. Same goes for Connie Chung & Maury Povich. Pretty much to a one, Congress members and Senators were jerks.

Questlove and the rest of the Roots - nice guys, very chill, but extremely stoned while playing basketball prior to doing a college show - like, we were wondering how we were going to get them off the court and on stage.

Various members of Dave Matthews Band, but not DM himself - all nice, down to earth, seemed like attentive parents. Mostly opted for non-dairy milks in their coffees and hot cocoas.

I love that you know the DM Band's members' coffee preferences!

Haha I don't know why that has stuck with me for a decade-plus now. I certainly don't remember any organic chemistry from that semester, but I remember Boyd Tinsley ordering soy hot chocolates!

He's not particularly famous, but when I was General Manager of my college's radio station I put together a Girl Talk show. He was cool and didn't have crazy things on his rider (unlike Common, who wanted some weird nectar juice). After the show he asked if he could smoke some pot with us.

Cool guy.
