When a celebrity in person really underwhelms you

All true! I love it when celebrities you like turn out to be as nice as you’d imagine.

John Rich of Big & Rich was an asshole. I got serious rapey/Weinstein vines from him but didn't stick around to find out. Just gross.

This is funny.

Huh? Just googled him, he is 5.11

I walked past Elena Kagan on the sidewalk a few months back - she is TINY!

She may be short, but she’s not tiny.

I met the band Green Day around 2002 if you consider them celebrities. Super nice (and goofy).

I sat next to Alan Alda on a flight to Europe and he was lovely.

Met Prince Harry about 7 years ago and was completely underwhelmed.

I was sitting right in front of her so got to see her all night long. She seemed nice enough and I did notice she was nice to the waiter but man she was nothing to look at. Super plain Jane, as in you would not give her a second glance. She is tall and lithe that part is true (but so am I so that didn't really wow me) but in terms of looks, face, hair, etc....definitely underwhelming.

The other one was a few years ago, we were at the airport and were sitting in the lounge next to Joy Behar, first I am not a fan of hers at all but she was super obnoxious. Loud and crass, made me cringe. I sure would have liked to have seen that in person she is a nice and gentler person than she comes across, it would have made me warm up to her.

Anyone else have such an experience?

At least Gwenyth was nice. It’s nice to know that some celebrities are kind people.

How do you know she was nice? She seemed nice based on sitting at a table for an evening?

I think you can get a sense of someone's personality by watching them eat dinner in public. At least she was not berating the waiter, etc.

I'm super bummed about Gwenyth. I think she is gorgeous.

I saw her in Italy once, back when she was dating Luke Wilson. She was stunning--golden, willowy and incredibly poised. Everyone stared at her as they walked by. This was a while ago of course.

I saw Phoebe Cates and Kevin Kline frolicking on a beach in Barbados, back before they were married. She was teeny tiny and he was semi-annoyed about peopling approaching her but not knowing who he was.

Penn from Penn & Teller is super nice and gentle off-stage. Tall, too.

Hmm so rumors that he's kind of a jerk IRL could be true. Excellent that he looks even better in person!!

That’s what happens when you go from totally geek to totally chic....

NOOOOO!

Did anyone know that the lead actor from BlackKklansman is his son? I just found that out.

I saw Orlando Bloom checking into and out of a hotel in London in 2005 and he seemed nice and friendly. If he wasn’t a celebrity, I wouldn’t have noticed him. He wasn’t super handsome or head turning, just normal and pleasant looking.

Marla Maples is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen in person (this was about 20 years ago).

Maybe Jared didn't lean. Maybe that's what the problem was.
