This Is Us. Season 3

I did IVF and egg retrieval and they are making way too much of it. Even if she is obese. Seriously you are out for like 30 min during surgery. No one flies across country to wait on a surgery that takes less than 45 min.

Yeah but the irrational flight was emphasized as typical over reacting drama of the three.

I'm starting to feel a little annoyed with the show. I hope they pick it up a bit.

It was even crazier that he turned around a few minutes after seeing Kate and returned because the girl in his father’s building had been beaten up. (She didn’t even have life threatening injuries.) I can kind of see the big gesture to fly cross country and apologize/support his sister, but the return? It just seems a little silly. The beauty of this show is it’s authenticity, and this just didn’t ring true.

I agree w/ previous PP. I like Randall's character but this was a bit much for me. Why could he have just said I am flying back tomorrow and will see her as soon as I get back.

I was thinking this was a great age for them. I don’t love the mustache Jack or the bob Kate. The sweet 20s are just perfect for them. (And I have pre heartache for Vietnam Jack).
Two other thoughts: Chrissy Metz had her best episode last night (I’m not a fan of victim Kate). And I think Kevin/Justin Hartley are consistently underrated.

Yeah, it was a crime that neither Moore nor Hartley was nominated for an Emmy for last season.

+1
Both are excellent.

I think Kate having a successful pregnancy is just too unrealistic for even TIU.

Agree. I'd love to see her choose bariatric surgery instead, and LOSE THE WEIGHT. Then maybe get pregnant or adopt. The weight loss should be her first priority.

I also agree with the sentiment that Justin Hartley is incredibly underrated. I love him and he has grown so much in these years – the character, not necessarily that his acting has improved approved specifically, it's always been good but I think there has been more depth as the show goes on.

Teen Kevin usually gets on my nerves. Nothing about the actor, I think hes supposed to be that way, but He seems so self-centered that i usually dislike him

Completely agree. Teen Kevin is so arrogant and cutting, I really can't stand him. But adult Kevin is so, so funny. Just the little things he says and does make me laugh. He's definitely underrated.

I thought that was her hair tied up.

Me, too. It made her look like a bug with antennas.

Yes, it was her hair. It looked awful, even on such a pretty woman.

I want to see Randall with his big heart muddle through life in his upper middle class suburban neighborhood. It would be more interesting to me if Kevin’s movie prompted Randall to be obsessed with Jack’s Vietnam history (and Jack’s relationship with his brother could be used to explore Randall’s own feeling about sibling relationships). Let Kevin have the hero/save the world role, maybe really getting into working with communities devastated by the opioid epidemic because of his own addiction.

It just feels cliche to have the successful black man with identity issues explore his roots with poor, black, city people.

I agree. It's getting old.

Again, I agree. Actually, most of the last episode annoyed me. But most of all, the grand gesture of flying across the country and then turning around and doing it again because a non-relative had a broken arm?? Please.

Agreed. I really hope this show lets her be happy.

So typical of the victim Kate story to minimize the hurt her comment causes Randall, then act the victim and freeze him out. And the family dynamics that mean Randall flies cross country to bow at her feet and getting old and irritating.

I agree with you all. It was so strange that he would hop on a flight for some random girl he didn't know. I was rolling my eyes at that and thinking he really needs to focus on his own life and family. I feel like in his quest to be a hero he is neglecting his own family and family's needs, which I hope they will start to explore with the wife's firing storyline.

they wanted us to think that he heard about Beth and was so concerned and rushed back. Or something bad happened to her in her depressed state. That's the problem with this show is they always like tricking you and making these little flips, but sometimes the reality is just so far-fetched.

I don’t think so. He went to the hospital first to see the girl, then home. Once home, all he could talk about were the conditions around that building. Beth had to practically interrupt him to tell him about her job.
