It's like they know what they're doing is stupid and atrocious, but they can't help themselves. They're convinced somehow that "uneducated whites" will somehow stumble across this thread and be sad that someone with a $700HHI has committed to taking up heirloom gardening? The delusion that anyone gives a cr@p about them (or their HHI) is strong. Like a petulant teen that didn't get their way and has now scribbled "I hate my parents" all over their room. Guys. Get it together. |
Gays have made tremendous contribution to society, you are entitled to your views but so am I. We will fight for the rights of LGBT community and make sure they always get the respect they deserve. BTW, that iPhone you are typing on is brought to you by a gay man. Go Tim Cook! And you can keep your orange bag of cheetohs in the White House. |
We're having a laugh at your expense. You won, so you get to revel. We lost, so we get to mock. It's the American way, and it won't have any impact whatsoever on future elections. Repubs got the White House in the usual way. Maybe they'll be able to replicate it, maybe they won't, but nothing we say here will affect that one way or the other. I suggest that you don your wife-beater and hie thee to your monster truck rally. Free corn dogs if you get there early. Have a blast! |
At who's extent? Surely not mine, and probably not most of the posters on this board, very few of whom, I would hazard to guess, fit into the category of "broke, uneducated whites". It will absolutely have an impact on the future elections. And it had a big impact on THIS election, the smugness and out-of-touchness is EXACTLY what lost you the election, and most of the political analysts, even on the left, have admitted it. But, sure, don't learn. For me, someone who is firmly outside of the group you're mocking, it's downright amusing to see you all acting like such... boneheaded jerks. And putting it all on a public listserve. And confirming exactly what the groups who decided this election think of you. So, please, carry on. If you want to run yourselves into the ground even more, don't let me stop you. |

All I was saying is, the thread was becoming more religious than political and could have been considered off topic, but I was not trying to avoid your question just remain within the rules of the moderator You say you God writes the rules and is in control. ---Yes, God is in control but allows us to choose whether to obey or not. You say people have a choice in if they want to follow God's rules for their lies or not, so why then are you through your vote trying to force others to follow God's rules instead of following the rules for your life ? I do follow the rules for my life and obey the commandments of God. However, when those around me do not obey then I have to witness and receive collateral damage from their wickedness such as an impaired economy, seeing miserable single mothers or women emotionally messed up from killing their unborn children, or other things. If I can, through the human govt. have them enact laws that mirror as close as possible God's laws, I can force those people. albeit unwillingly, to obey God to some degree. It makes my surroundings better, and it is compassionate for those other people who do not understand it is in their best interest to obey God. Saying you need to vote xyz for your beliefs for your God makes it seem like you think your God week and unable to see that his rules are followed. It makes it seem as though you don't trust your God to take care of things. It makes it seem as you are weak yourself, if you need all laws in your favor in order to follow your God and your religion Nope, God is totally in charge and has everything taken care of. Every possible move every molecule on the planet can move is known by God and the end result of God's intentions for mankind will take all of these possible moves into account. The final result will be all of mankind will obey God one or way another, either willingly or unwillingly through a government. I have to live with the consequences of my choices, and I have to live with the consequences of other people's choices which can impact me. I do not live in a bubble separated from everyone. So, me voting is to try and elect people who will uphold righteousness is the right thing to do. I have to live on this planet and so I am going to associate with and elect leaders who will, to me, make my short stay here as good as possible. |

This thread is a fucking embarrassment, and I voted for Sanders in the primary, Hillary in the general, and made sure former Sanders supporters did, too - and they say they did, and are retching over the result.
Garrison Keilor should be so goddamned ASHAMED of himself. Where in holy hell is the humanity in that reaction? His column is that of an old, old man, who by luck (of career success, because I've listened to god knows how much Prairie Home Companion and it's..eh; of the year and place he was born) and sex and a fuckton of other stuff has security I've never known, and I'm more educated than Keilor and live elements of a snarky lefty life surrounded by the same. I'm mixed race and a woman. And the absolute hatred condoned, fomented and spread by our President-elect got him in office and must be fought, peacefully, civilly and legally, at every single turn. But this thread absolutely perpetuates the 'Davos class' idea that Klein and others talk about, and it's not only not helpful, it's fucking destructive, and so is a bunch of six-figure earners sneering at people who have had their towns, counties and almost entire states implode because there is NO industry. For those of you sneering, read this and get over yourselves. https://theintercept.com/2016/11/09/democrats-trump-and-the-ongoing-dangerous-refusal-to-learn-the-lesson-of-brexit/ https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/nov/09/rise-of-the-davos-class-sealed-americas-fate http://www2.nybooks.com/daily/s3/nov/10/trump-election-autocracy-rules-for-survival.html |
You know what's fun? I've lived in the rural South, and I've lived in the industrial Midwest. I've drunk moonshine and been to deer camp. I know your compatriots--I've lived with them, been to church with them, and been in their homes. I KNOW exactly who you've associated yourself with, with much more clarity than you do, I suspect. They didn't vote against smugness or condescension--simply a false narrative. In a grand old tradition going back to William Jennings Bryan and generations of huckster tent revivals, they got hoodwinked by a snake oil salesman. So I'll continue to have my fun, thanks. I care about your opinion of me every bit as much as you care about my opinion of you. Which is to say, not at all. |
Hilarious. You "know my compatriots"- so you've been to Bethesda, I take it? Or Los Angeles, where I live currently? Continue to be condescending. Your lack of regard for the people who got Trump elected is EXACTLY what helped them make their decision. Keep digging that grave and stereotyping. Just let me grab the popcorn first. |
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. --Ephesians 5:11 Reprove means to disapprove of strongly. Accepting evil is not reproving, it is condoning sin. By not having fellowship with you who embraces the unfruitful works of darkness, and one way to do that is to banish your harmful ideas (not harming YOU, just from the public arena making it impossible for your evil views to be implemented) then I am reproving you. In the old testament, righteous kings tore down the groves that were erected to worship false gods. You do not get along with false god worshipers, you banish them from the public. You put evil away from you. It may sound harsh to you but that is what you have to do. If you will not obey the commandments that God has clearly shown in the bible there is no fellowship with you, only to minimize the damage your foolish decision can have on our nation. As an enemy I will love you, in that I will be kind to you, but I will reprove any attempt by you to bring evil to this nation. That is not being unChristian, it is being wise and looking after my own self interest. In love, I offer you to study the bible and know what God has said about how to live a righteous life. I can assure you homosexuality and adultery are not part of a righteous life. If you cannot accept that elementary fact what is the point of further discourse? If you won't accept 1+1=2 but think it is 3, what is the point of discussing algebra? Or any form of mathematics? You won't accept basic math but have your own set of false sums. One of the mistakes Christians make is trying to be buddies with the ungodly. We are to show love, sure, and be friends but we are to show them that sin is wrong. The fact is, when you tell someone they are doing wrong they usually ditch you and go find people to be friends with who approve of their sinful lifestyle. I will use this as an example: Assume you are a Nazi who believes Christians are holding back the True Religion of the Tree God. For some weird reason, a president gets elected who is sympathetic to the Tree God and its followers. A new president finally gets elected and there is a possibility of banishing Tree God's policies from the legislature, and we can remove all followers of the Tree God from all positions of power so their hateful, evil policies can no longer threaten the nation. You are a follower,, as far as I am concerned, a follower of the Tree God whose ideas and policies are evil. It is nothing more than that. And because you are so sure you are correct, just as you were so sure HRC was going to be the next president, there really is not much common ground for us to stand on but hold almost every thing in opposition, hence, we are enemies. Until you demonstrate through your actions you are friendly I will consider you to be an enemy. The past polices of the 8 years were those of what an enemy would inflict upon the nation. |
Why indeed I have! In fact, I've lived in both Bethesda and Cali (though admittedly spent most of my time up north rather than LA). But those aren't your compatriots any more, brother. (You might have noticed that MD and CA are deep blue and might have further noticed that college-educated voters went strongly for HRC.) I suspect you know this. In fact, I imagine that you're afraid to disclose your Trump support to colleagues, friends, and perhaps even family. So, you can continue to wear the uniform, but you've jumped to the other team. You are no longer one of us, you're one of them. You can continue to hide it if you'd like to keep up appearances--I imagine that would make your life easier. But in fact and in spirit, your compatriots are now the Bubbas from Brewton and the Wolskis from Waukesha. Own it, enjoy it. God knows I am. |
My compatriots are the people I grew up with and/or live with. You can try to lump me in with people I'm not familiar with- if that makes you feel better, knock yourself out. I know you sure need the soothing after being walloped only two days ago. But, again, the smug condescension you show towards people who you seem to characterize as poor and uneducated gives you absolutely NO leg to stand on in terms of claiming to be in any way compassionate towards disadvantaged groups. You are a bigoted jerk- own that revel in it, admit it. Because everyone already knows, and, again, it's why you lost. Karma came and smacked you right across the face. I'm "no longer one of you"- God, I hope so. And honestly, I never was. Compassionless douchebags such as yourself- no one wants to be in your club or team. And the more you speak, the less we like you. Deal with that. |
That's what it comes down to you follow the Gospel of Ease. You are willing to stand up for Your God & Your Beliefs as long as it's easy. As long ass you can try to force others to do the same. You'll follow as long as it's easy. |
Oh, this is priceless. Made my day. Now you admit that you're "not familiar" with the folks who elected Trump, but purport to know why they voted as they did? You're confused, brother. Bigoted? Moi? Surely you jest. I judge strictly based on merit without regard to race, creed, or gender. In this regard, I'm much like the Donald. But the best part of your post is your silence on whether you're willing to openly proclaim your support for Trump. C'mon, I'm sure those that you grew up with and live with would be understanding. Have courage, man! They're you're compatriots! Or perhaps you're not so sure that they'd still feel the same way about you? Suggest that you spend some time with your new friends--sounds like you can't count on the old ones anymore. That is, unless you want to stay in the closet. |
So, I should vote for Clinton to make my life deplorable, I mean really deplorable? Such as making it harder for me to get ammo for my guns to defend my home against crackhead thieves? That I have to see many people endure economic hardship because the safety net we built for the less fortunate of our country has become a hammock for illegal aliens to take a snooze in? That I should vote for a person who will elect people who will scream at me because I teach my children gay marriage is wrong and that if I try to withdraw my children from participating in homo-erotic propaganda in the school then I am a bigot and ought to be shunned and my church shut down and its tax exempt status revoked? I should vote for Clinton so as to make my life harder? That is sadism and I am not a sadist. The Gospel is this: Jesus Christ is the son of God. Whosoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life. That is the gospel. Voting for a corrupt Jezebel of a woman who would make my life a living hell is not in the Gospel anywhere. With Trump in power there is a good possibility I will have even more money to contribute to charity, to give to widows, to help the downtrodden directly (not through a corrupt Clinton organization) and so forth. Voting Trump was the right choice. You are grasping at straws to somehow make my vote un-Christian. You are reaching real far, scraping the bottom of the barrel. I think you need to take a rest and think about sunshine and daisies before you blow a gasket. |
