WES Head of School resigns

Same here. Several unsupervised mean teachers remain, plus the insidious weak ES link. Whoever is hired as HOS has a lot of house cleaning to do. But for one key upcoming retirement.

Seriously? We left a long time ago and made it abundantly clear to admin. why (failure to counsel out disruptive students; cliques; mean girls; mean teachers; failure to even try to follow a 504 written by the school's own psychologist; punitive treatment of strugglng students). . I read this entire thread and am rather amazed that nothing has changed. The board is parent-run and ineffective. The headmasters since Schuessler have been ineffective. The same problematic teachers remain (I went to the website and checked) What does that leave? The mean teachers rule. There is no "WES" if the board is always changing and the headmasters revolve. And to think the WES motto now is "Be Kind". Please - that came long after we left and I wonder why. My kids still have nightmares from that place and the grinding amounts of homework and multiple transitions inappropriate to age.

Current parent here. I'm sorry to hear that a few of you have had negative experiences at WES but it has been a great place for us where our kids (and us) have been embraced by the community. "Be kind" still holds true from what I have seen. My kids are younger and the older kids always look out for the younger ones, whether it be helping them with reading or just walking with them down a crowded hallway. I can't say enough good things about WES and am happy that Nancy Wright will take the interim reins next year. She seems wonderful.

I wish the teachers would "be kind!"

Not pp but the teachers are kind, this has been our experience at WES.

We love the place. There is someone or a few people with a strong negative feelings they harbor, and I think it is pretty unhealthy. Think about what some of these prior posters have written. Setting aside that they seem detached from reality, who cares that much about a school to ambush every thread and write the same mean platitudes over and over? It's just weird frankly.

The WES marketing department or a "happy parent" reactivated a dead thread at 6:46. Then the negatives (not me) pile on. If you really want this to go away, stop posting weird positives about the school - like a teacher getting an award on the other thread about Norwood and WES. It only brings out the unhappy parents (and there are many of us) who then post. It's counterproductive.

I think it's probably therapeutic for you. In any case, the way you and perhaps others write these negative posts, it seems very strange and personal. Not at all like a run of the mill unhappy parent at a school. I think you also must feel some injury to your esteem to believe that some people, myself included, were not only able to succeed academically there, but actually enjoy the place.

Thank you for your advice but the school is really great. Many families do not understand the weird negatives in this forum. There is only one or two the unhappy parents of most likely counseled out kids, (or the kids themselves) who have all this negativity and are unable to move on. They are continuously attempting at harming the school community. And then there is the reality about WES...

WES needs to find a very strong Head of School who can make decisions and lead. Parents run the school and the Board (to date) has supported that. So, turnover at the top level is understandable. It's too bad.

Love the cocky parent that is trying to bully people and tell them they cannot post their opinions and negative experiences at WES. This tells you how WES operates - they have many parents with very strong personalities on the board that are at the school constantly trying to control everything!

Love the assumption that any parent who posts something positive about WES is a cocky parent or a parent on the board. What you write tells a lot about you.

If you go to WES, you will see these controlling parents in the school CONSTANTLY!

Maybe the parents at the school all the time are there because they like it and enjoy volunteering. I am one who volunteers alot because I enjoy seeing my children throughout the day and I also love the school and am happy to help in any way I can.

In addition, the board does not run the school at all, get your facts correct before posting on a public forum like this one. The board members spend alot of time helping to make this school a better place, ie. the new field. They are all volunteers as well and I appreciate all the work they do for the school.

We have had both great teachers and awful teachers at WES. I do not understand the parents that deny the existence of the awful teachers. Your children are either very young so you have not yet encountered them or… I don't want to insult parents who don't "see" these teachers, but don't insult me when I tell you my child has one and I see him/her losing his/her love of learning.
