| The comment wasn't intended to antagonize anyone, rather to point out that a lot of people are viewing this thread. |
The total number of views is not very informative, but the distinct number of viewers is. Other than casual onlookers, similar to other threads at DCUM, there seem to be "small number of" persistent viewers/posters. FWIW the total student enrollment at WES is 277 students (N-T-K, 1-8). http://www.w-e-s.org/page.cfm?p=1681 |
| Plus, there are people who are considering enrollment at WES. |
For those my only advice is to speak to parents or visit the school. This thread is a prime example of how anonymty leads to disinformation. In other words it is very easy for one or two disgruntled parents to take over a thread. |
| Let's hypothetically say that there are only two disgruntled posters - one from 10 years ago and one recent - why do they have similar complaints? |
Both did not get to be at the Board? Both were at the Board but their agenda got turned down? Counseled out kids? DC was not chosen to be one of the three kings? Who knows? |
| Except WES never counsels out problem kids. That is a recurring theme with WES. Who posted anything about "...be at the board...".You need to find other excuses for the school, pp. |
I'm just rubbernecking. |
| Did you know that Washington Episcopal School challenges Early Childhood, Primary, Elementary, and Middle School students to embrace academic rigor in an appropriately balanced and supportive environment. We are a diverse, inclusive community that respects individual differences, develops every child's unique talents, and fosters learning inside and outside the classroom. Here, children stand out without burning out. |
| I don't think anyone is disgruntled about not being on the board - there are better ways to spend your money, who needs that headache (?), and most posters attribute many of WES' on-going problems to the parent-run board. Nice families don't leave because their kids cannot cut it - they leave because they can shell out that same tuition check at another school without worrying about the "luck of the draw" with regard to the cruel teachers. I agree with the previous poster that said, "Every school has problems, but they pale in comparison to WES." |
Since this is not the WES I know as a current parent, you should be hailing from an alternate universe. I also love the third person narrative: "I may or may not be among the nice parents but they leave because of XYZ" (fill in the appropriate false statement/slander) |
| This year, WES had one of its most successful auctions in many years and most recently had great turnouts for their Skating Party and two Ledo Nights! Great community activities and events occur all the time at WES. Congrats WES community! |

DC is a WES kid who has been there for years. Over the years, we haven't noticed much in his day-to-day experience that can be attributed to which Head was in the role at the time. He was happy in the early childhood program, and mostly happy in all the years since. He's a high-achieving student (outperforming his sibling who attends another rigorous school) with close friends who also bonds with his teachers.
Did he like Mr. Work and does he look forward to seeing Mr. Duncan? Sure. But our community and faculty are what define the school. We wish Mr. Duncan the best as he moves on, and look forward to welcoming his replacement. |
That's really frightening. . . . ex-WES'r (3 kids). We left because of the mean teachers and lack of leadership. And, guess what? They are STILL there, two weak headmasters later. |
| We left -- same reasons as PP -- now they are hiring mean teachers to replace the old ones. Unbelievable. |
