Dear middle-aged women: capri pants do nothing for you.

Yes, now we just need the militantly anti-bikini poster to come out of winter hibernation and spring will truly have arrived.

They go well with a lot of long, flowy cotton blouses that I own. For whatever reason, skirts that hit right below the knee seem most flattering on me as well. Baggy capris and most shorts make me look shorter and chubbier.

These are the only (moderately) acceptable capris. Bravo, PP.

Capri pants look terrible on everyone except people who look good wearing anything. I am tall, thin and have long legs and I don't wear capri pants because they would look bad on me. Also, capri pants should not be confused with well tailored ankle pants.

+1. Capri pants that end mid-calf make you look short and dumpy.

news flash: some people are short and not thin. ankle pants don't necessarily look better on them. So, hey, why not let them just be comfortable in peace?

Newsflash: capris make EVERY type of body look short and dumpy due to where they stop on the leg--usually the widest point of the calf. Even PP who is tall and thin said she looks bad in them! Not sure why a short, not thin person would want to look shorter and...not-thinner, but hey, rock on with your comfortable self!

Oh well. Don't care if you don't like my capris. I'm wearing them. Much, much better than shorts on me at this stage in the game. Much, much more comfy than long pants during the summer. Win-win for me!

They are not more comfy than a pair of long, linen summer pants or a long cotton skirt.

You just haven't tried anything else.

So, I haven't read the entire thread. Maybe this has come up. Could we compare cropped pants with Capri pants. They are two different items. Although, perhaps Capri is being used generically for both. TIA

NP: By wearing something other than capris, am I really fooling anyone into thinking my 5'3" self is, I dunno, 5'5"?

And the extra imaginary height matters because?

Oh, wait....

Totally different thing. Cropped pants end above the ankle, where your leg is thin. Acceptable.

Capri pants end at the calf, where you leg is thick - bad. The tall woman who gets the carpus that end ABOVE the calf - again where leg is thinner is marginally acceptable, though only for her body type.

My mother and MIL, 70 and 71, wear capris in the summer. I get it at that age. It is hot as a mo-fo in DC in the summer and at 70 everyone has veiny, wrinkled legs. This is a cool alternative for the day chasing the grandkids.

At 43--I wouldn't be caught dead in them. I do have the 'boyfriend type' jeans and the white cropped skinny type jeans though...which I always wear with some type of wedge or heel for casual dressy in the evening.

Anyone who thinks this is a better look than capris needs to back away from the bong. Good god.

I got a great laugh picturing myself in this... lawdy! Squeezing myself into my 4 year olds skorts as we speak...

I am short, old and overweight. Hmmm. Am I wear the pants called "cropped" What's the difference anyway. But for some reason, men still follow me around and flirt. They like their moms?

yeah, they look pretty bad

I think they are cute. Right after I finish working, I am going to buy a pair. That is as opposed to grow a pair.
