I don’t believe. I don’t believe that a billionaire in his late 60s, who owns his firm, would just decide to go lead an organization whose people he despises. What a waste of time that would be. Nobody does that.

It’s called a power trip.

lol. Some “power.” No longer even an independent agency. Answers to RV for everything from policy and rulemaking to HR minutiae.

Let’s see: optimal A is build my own company, be my own boss, travel the world, enjoy my wealth. Option B is “lead” 4000 pissed off bureaucrats whining about telework all day, fighting with unions, and taking orders from RV. Hmmm — tough choice. But I think I’ll pass on Option B.

I don’t think he knew what that Option B would look like when he agreed to come in. Telework was kills by Uyeda, not PA. The fork etc came from doge. I don’t think he had any control over that. And had he known about the plans, I think he would have thought twice.

At the same time he has made his own mistakes to alienate staff. It is also obvious he has been having trouble finding people willing to work in his organization. We are on our second chief of staff, had two deputy chiefs, have a bunch of less-than-seasoned people in the Chairman’s office. That’s all on him. And this doesn’t instill confidence.

I do think union decision still helps becuase Atkins can’t hid behind his fake friendly clueless demeanor anymore.

An excellent question. I agree with the poster who said it was a power trip. There is no other reason. PA came in without a team. Without advisers and counsels. Without a GC. Without directors. Without a vision. And here we are. Almost 1000 people left. One town hall. No communication. Rumors galore. Morale lower than ever.

I wouldn’t even call that a town hall. It was more like a stump speech.

He has no idea how to lead anything. And from all accounts he is horrible at making decisions. Won’t make them. Puts them off. Ignores them. He is totally unequipped for the job. He may know securities law and policy and how to talk policies with powerful people. But he cannot run a regulatory agency and is failing on all accounts.

Anyone is Trump World who knows anything about what the SEC does must be terrified they are squandering this opportunity.

It’s not that different at the CFTC. Today is a joke.

Did something specific happen at the CFTC today? I know there is a new GC, but from resume alone it didn’t seem like a crazy pick.

It really is a great shtick. I’ve started to use it myself when my spouse gets mad at me — aw shucks, I didn’t know, my hands are tied, am doing my best, uh uh uh.

Why no press on supposed nteu arbitration “win”? And zero press releases from nteu? Odd.

Can you seriously not figure this out on your own? It’s pretty simple.

Uh, no it’s not simple, GG. If a party wins a big arbitration, that party usually mentions it somewhere. Pretty standard. Even if it’s going to be appealed.

NP and my guess is that they will most likely appeal. However, thinking about that small universe of a chance where they dont appeal, the question is whether a news release and any coverage makes it more or less likely they appeal. I think a lot of publicity backs Atkins I to a corner and pushes him closer towards appealing. Like I said, I think he appeals anyways but I think the benefits of a news release are almost 0 when GG has already shared the decision with the union members. Just my two cents.

Also, they did a great job on the arbitration so I trust that whatever they are doing is what they believe is in the best interest of the members.

How naive. The decision to appeal will be made completely independently of any news release.
