| The Board President is next. |
|
Watched some of the SYC AGM last night. The TD, EM pushed hard to stack the Board with Travel folks, but they only got 2 seats while the non-Travel sports got 4. The Girls DOC’s husband was voted out.
What doesn’t sit right is that MJ, a paid W-2 Travel Soccer coach, got voted in. WHAT?!!? How did they happen? Did she declare her position before the vote? If so, that should have raised a red flag. The Facebook Live showing the reactions from DF, DG, and WS said it all. For once, it felt like the rest of us finally had a voice. P.S. The cheer group made watching entertaining. Go Cheer! |
She’ll have to recuse herself from all votes where she stands to benefit financially. That’s what being a nonprofit is all about. Any vote she takes regarding travel soccer puts the board at risk. |
| So, she didn't have to declare her conflict at the AGM? Interesting. Thank you for enlightening us. So let's just say that a vote is proposed and seconded to fire the Travel Soccer TD, would she have to recuse herself? |
Travel soccer parent. EM completely mismanaged this. He first angered a heck of a lot of us with his Edge $1000 team fees. Then he got greedy and nominated too many people. Then he expected us to vote for his slate. What a joke. No one trusts him. And I support getting rid of all the other sports. |
Also a travel parent, but do not at all support getting rid of other sports. Agree with you that he completely mismanaged this, though. I’ve never bothered voting in an SYC election, but turned out this time to vote for mostly rec-supported candidates specifically because I didn’t like his lobbying campaign. |
| If SYC travel soccer was a completely separate entity, you would be last in line for turf field space from the county. Does SYC own its own fields? |
We all know it’s bs that clubs use their rec teams to get the best fields for travel. |
|
| He called a meeting of his coaches to insist that they insist their parents vote for his candidates. Once again, getting others to do his dirty work. Most coaches did not drink his kool-aid this time. Hardly anyone showed up. LOL |
Right, that's how they work the system. If SYC Travel is a separate entity, they won't have any turf fields. They might get some unlit, crappy grass fields. |
Awful. Hopefully SYC moves on ASAP |
Ssshhhh. Don't tell the travel soccer people this. Let them find out on their own! |
| How can anyone support getting rid of the other sports? The Board President made it absolutely clear that none of the sports are paying for each other so that can’t be the concern. If anything - non travel soccer sports are paying for travel soccer because they are paying for the building and are not allowed to use it. Every kid in this county deserves access to sports and facilities at which to play. That has always been SYC’s mission - hopefully it always will be. |
This guy… *sigh* |
