The symbolism is large. |
True, but to those of us whose ancestors never got the 40 acres or even the mule, this is not my priority for our tax dollars. OTOH, I would feel fine about the “tossed off their own farmland … by the government “ scenario. Instead, I feel like Musky and Trump are working to increase the number of white nationalists in the US. It’s trolling with multiple goals — all of them reprehensible. |
What they are going to do and how much more of our money via services and goods will be given to them as yet more refugees is an interesting question and one I'm happy to entertain. It has been said that they are farmers, and I see someone has posted a few videos about it upthread. If they have it so good, why are they running out of SA? Yes the SA government has passed a law saying the government can take land without any compensation. Yes the third largest party is videoed in a stadium of thousands chanting "Kill the Boer" kill the farmers, shoot to kill. Yes white SAfricans own something north of 90% of the farmland. So. |
Hopefully they’ll pick blueberries. |
Yes, because all designated "liberal" media is screaming about the horrible ness of a handful of refugees and pointing out that they are white like that alone is supposed to be reason to reject them. |
We are deporting the people who do the work and importing...the cartel

There isn’t a lack of land available for farming. A farm needs more than just land. If you want more farmers, then you need government policies to support and aid the small scale subsistence farming. Expropriating someone’s farm will not ease the poverty in South Africa. You need more than that and the government knows this. |
Imagine how disappointed those south African refugees are going to be once they start living in the US.
No more cheap labor or household help for them, no more state provided healthcare. It's going to be eye opening, hope media follows their story and see how many of them stay. |
I'm becoming very disappointed with DCUM.
There used to be intelligent discourse. These days there's a lot of rabble rousing and partisanship. Come on, people. Most of today's immigration is comprised of people of color. There isn't even an attempt to hold an intelligent discourse on the subject. You all are angry because these people are white. You are racists. |
Nope. I’m angry because Trump’s immigration policies are racist. When you start telling other people what their feelings are and label them according to your own very limited and clearly biased standards, you undermine any “attempt(s) to hold an intelligent discourse on the subject”. If you genuinely want “intelligent discourse “ then you need to offer intelligent discourse. |
People with "refugees welcome" signs will be flipping them the bird. They'll feel right at home. |
The Episcopalians church finds it "unfathomable" that Trump should give these SA "refugees" priority over the other refugees. Really, thought, it's not unfathomable. It's Mump. Says it all.

Maybe Musk can put them all in his compound? Put his money where his mouth is. |
No, probably not. They will just find out that the US is no longer the promised land it once was, which is why the Republican party doesn't tend to want any more immigrants, even the people that pick our crops. Like may end up being financially a lot harder for the white south African here than it was in South Africa. |
Looks like Idaho won the Afrikaner refugee lottery.
