Why are ivies and other elite NE schools out, southern schools in?

Rich hot kids are not yearning to go to the dying and cold Midwest.

This is hilarious! People who go to those schools can’t get into Ivies or even selective schools. My DD at a rigorous private would never watch those stupid posts or consider these schools.

Go to the thread about private school acceptances, no one is going to these schools for dummies.

+1. Not to mention you'll be attacked and probably expelled by the Zionist president and Zionist deans if you dare speak out in support of Palestine.

Clearly neither of you have actually set foot on an elite college campus and it shows. Very offensive statement. You’re right that things aren’t superficial on looks to the same degree though, it’s more about intellect and having a purpose beyond coordinate dorm rooms and parties.

Maybe because southern schools are easier to get into.

Great, typical UMC overachiever and super outgoing students. According to their parents, it's the sunny weather, fun and Southern vibes via social media, and football.

My husband works in politics and he believes fmr Ohio governor and congressman John Kasich also sent his twin daughters to Clemson about a decade ago. So this trend has been burgeoning for a while.

It’s social media and Tik tok rush videos. And the kids are no longer getting accepted to the top schools. Our friends in Long Island had kids that applied to Ivies, UVA OOS, didn’t get in any and headed south. We see it at our HS too. But - the top kids around us still head up north to Ivies/SLACs

Sweetie, they are not wasting their time even applying to "top schools." Their target is some chill somewhat selective college like SMU or Clemson. They have zero interest in spending four years around insufferable, creepy, far left, Godless, Zionist, abrasive striver peers in some cold weather town. To smart outgoing normal kids, "where fun goes to die" describes not just UChicago but nearly all of the U.S. News top 20, outside of perhaps Vanderbilt and Duke.

Then why do top schools with significantly smaller student populations have more applications than many of these southern schools…sometimes double or triple or quadruple the number of applications?

SMU only receives about 15k applications while every Ivy is at least double that level (Dartmouth receives the fewest at 31k and is 40% smaller).

You can't really be this thick, can you? Largely only the rich kids who know they want to go to SMU and can afford it apply to SMU. Ivies get every striver in the world applying.

Sure…that’s it. Talk about thick.

Again…more straws to grasp.

California got so woke and unattractive…that the UC schools have the most applications in America. And all the ivies are failing so much that even though you need much better stats to get into them, they…have multiples of applicant numbers compared to southern colleges. The ivies are dead!!!!

Racist much? Clearly, you fit in perfectly with the dummies that go to these schools. Other than the merit chasers, these kids are not welcome elsewhere, #losers

From my limited experience, very few kids in Northern California want to go to the South for school, with the exception of African Americans who want to go to HBCUs. For everyone else, going to the South is like going to school in a foreign country.

There's nothing racist about pointing out that schools like Brown, Harvard and Columbia are catering to demands for Zionist repression of anti-Zionist protest and protests against the genocide. Protests that include people from all faiths and all races, including Jews, who have played a prominent role.

The same schools with majority Zionist boards of trustees and alumni? The ones who arrested their students, suspended some, expelled others, and rescinded degrees from their alum?

Right..

Have a kid at one of those, zero protests last year. Try again.

Don’t like any of those, but thankfully the top ones are isolated and now done with. The bottom is daily and forever.

So why does Alabama accept nearly everyone and receives fewer applications than schools that are 1/9 the size?
