I found an earlier telling of this story from a few years ago and looked at the media shortly after it happened and there is no mention of Kate at all being present. It talks about Harry and William going togetherto get costumes and how the party was themed Natives and Colonials and they were joking around about various costumes including the Nazi one. William may have been laughing and validaging Harry in going for it given it was a party amongst friends who also thought it wise to attend a Natives and Colonials party at the Meads house. From the descriptions of other costues, many were offesnive, inappropriate, racist, and insensitive...and that seemed to be a bit of the aim of the party. Two years earlier Prince Wiliam's Out of Africa themed birthday party had drawn a similar crowd with their various African costimes. So when Harry got in trouble publicly - he felt singled out, maybe he took it to an 11 but most at the party were at a 9 and had thought it funny, including his brother. |
It sounds like they hadn't been close for a long time and had had conflict and friction between them on and off for years. They had a shared experience but it doesn't sound like they had a really close relationship. |
For goodness sake, nobody saying he doesn’t have a right. But there are consequences the way he’s doing it. There are consequences for how they’re handling all of this, which is really bad. I’m not prone to hyperbole, but Harry does not seem well based on what has come out so far. Talking about how many people he killed in Afghanistan? Talking about seeing women “with powers?” Airing so much of other peoples dirty laundry yet claiming he wants them back? |
What did Harry actually want of William? To change their birth order? In every aspect of life (like it or not), there is a hierarchy. |
Maybe he just said that because it was expected? Hard to believe he has any sincere care for those relationships, or he is seriously lacking in self-awareness. |
That was Kate trying to smooth things over. She has the class, intelligence and empathy to know that there was a wedding coming up and they should move past the high school level drama. The more the Montecito duo talk, the more they sink themselves. |
I think he wanted his family/the institution to protect him in the same way William was protected. It's an understandable desire, if not realistic. |
How sad. "Tell Alls"are never healthy. Not for the writer, and not for the others mentioned. He should consider private therapy. |
Yeah, my take is she chose to be the bigger person, even in the throes of postpartum recovery etc. |
By all accounts, Harry and William and Kate had all been close up until Harry was dating and married Meghan, and afterward. |
Further, if William's team was leaking stories about Meghan -his wife- to the press, and really said some of the things they said about her, I could definitely see Harry not caring that much. That's how I'd feel. |
Yes. I posted this up thread. I think it’s beyond clear that Harry and Meghan hate Kate and want to tar her. When the story broke, Kate was never referenced. Now? Oh she was laughing uproariously at Nazis and helped encourage Harry to wear the costume! This smells like bullshit. I truly don’t see a rational adult not catching this. But it’s of a piece with him sharing that he “and William” told their dad oh sure we’ll accept the person you love as long as you do r marry her. This is all straight up bananas. |
For very long time Harry was one of the most popular royal family members. I think the public was really happy for him when he found Meghan. Clearly, however there were signs that not all was well even before the wedding. And William tried to warn him, and Harry has been upset with him ever since. |
Agreed. When they didn't warm to Meghan, whether for legitimate reasons or no, Harry didn't understand and the relationship quickly disintegrated from there. Not to say there weren't underlying tensions all along. It seems very clear Harry deeply resented being the "spare." |
He WAS protected. He cheated in school. He used slurs well after Nazigate. Yet he enjoyed a reputation for being soooo fun, not a churlish nasty little bastard who was a disaster in school and life. |
