Spring nreak was pretty clean. Numbers going up now with new variant. But so what? |
That and 13 cases/100K population is actually low. |
It's actually just over 20 cases per 100,000 in highly vaccinated Montgomery County, so I'm not sure what point the PP was making. |
While “forgetting how to work” may have been a poor choice of words, I’d be shocked if your virologist neighbor didn’t think shielding yourself from all germs would have negative ramifications down the road. |
Depends on how you define "over". There are no restrictions left, and they're not likely to come back. I haven't masked in a year (beyond a couple plane rides). I'm out in public daily, have dined inside several times a week since Summer 2020, etc. I see fewer masks every day where I am in Fairfax. From my POV, it's completely over. |
Look at the stats posted directly above? Reading isn't hard... |
The facts above said nothing about what the case rate is in our "highly vaccinated region." If you are going to say that our highly vaccinated region has lower cases than the national case count, you might want to look to see if that is actually true. Turns out, it's false. |
Talked about that too and she didn’t put much stock into that and dismissed that claim. |

There has been a 16% rise in *reported* Covid cases in the entire US this past week.
Covid hospitalizations rose 5% in the US this past week. https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/2020/national/coronavirus-us-cases-deaths/?itid=sf_coronavirus_sn_coronavirus-us-cases-deaths_1&state=US |

In Maryland cases have risen 30% in the the last week.
Covid hospitalizations have risen 12% in the last week. In DC the cases have fallen 3% and hospitalizations are up 13%. In Virginia, cases rose 9% this past week and hospitalizations are flat. |
It hasn't bee over 1,000 for about a month. Find a different argument. |
NP. Virologists have been behind all sorts of non-evidence based recommendations during this pandemic, so I'll take anything they say with a grain of salt. Now if she was an immunologist, I'd be more interested, and I would be quite surprised if they thought eliminating all exposures to respiratory viruses for the rest of a young adult's life was a good idea. |
Amazing. |
The actual number is closer to 300 per day, currently. |
Her spouse is an immunologist at the NIH and concurred. |
