Why congrats to only Nova kids? |
I think all the clubs being referenced here are NoVa clubs? Did we miss a commit from MC Elite? |
Capital is DMV - listed at tournaments as a Washington DC club. Has committs from MD and DC too. |
| Goodness you are reading too much into that comment. |
What is your obsession with acceptance rate? Why does this matter so much to you? There are so many more important factors in choosing a school that is the right fit. If you are looking for schools with low acceptance rates - look at MIT and U of Chicago - they play D3 lacrosse |
Because why committ to a college that anyone can get into on their own? None of these kids are going to make a living playing lacrosse so they better get a good education and that means going to the best uni you can. Committing to play at a school no one has ever heard of or that accepts almost everyone who applies is not a good play. |
Girl lacrosse Moms are awful. |
| Not all Lax Moms are awful. Those in the Capital world do have a pretty good sense on one or two who are upset and displaying awful tendencies on this site. |
| Thank you for that clarification and reminder. I am the Dad of boy players and I occasionally drop by the girl threads, and am amazed at some of the stuff people over here say. But I am sure that the vast majority of the girl lacrosse Moms are very classy and nice. |
Why would you assume that just because it is a girls lax thread that it is mom's commenting? |
It’s an accepted fact that many, many schools market to kids specifically to get them to apply, so they can reject them, and lower their acceptance rate. USA today and others calculate acceptance rates into their “Best Colleges” ranking, so encouraging lots of applicants makes the school look better. As a result is a misleading statistic. |
It may not be a "good play" in your opinion - but it might be the right decision for the girl and her family. We don't know what factors they considered before making their decision: money, proximity, legacy, etc. This young woman has choices (*which is what lacrosse provides) and she will receive a great education and play TOP level, D1, lacrosse. |
Makes total sense to me. JMU doesn't provide a good education, no one has ever heard of JMU, and anyone who goes to JMU just parties all the time. |
| Not sure what planet these posters are from but I cannot think of anyone, literally anyone, in the 2023 class who wouldn’t have at least considered JMU had the coach come calling. It’s a great school, it’s in-state for Va residents, and they just won a national championship. Anyone with a serious interest in lacrosse would have given it a look. |
Must be a Tech poster who didnt get into JMU |
