Instead of more people developing immunity asymptomatically, there's a thought among some doctors that many people are just not susceptible to getting infected. If this is the case, then herd immunity would come much sooner within an infected population.
This is an interesting thread from a cancer doctor on this - https://twitter.com/Rfonsi1/status/1277643561316388864?s=20 Also, the decreasing mortality rate among hospitalized patients is being seen everywhere. https://www.bbc.com/news/health-53192532 |
m I so hope this is true - that a large fraction of the population already has immunity to this virus. It seems to be our best hope at opening up sooner and safer đđ» |
SIAP, oxford covid vaccine showing lots of promise for extended immunity (years) from covid. Phase 3 trials started already (8k volunteers). Showing great promise (they are licensing this vaccine to Astrazeneca, which has a strong presence in Montgomery county).

An interview w/ Francis Collins (head of the NIH), where he talks about the vaccine trials:

Today Virginia has its lowest new case count since April 15.
Virginiaâs 7 day test positive averages since June 27 have been at 5.9%, 5.9%, 6.1%, 6%, 5.9% and on July 2nd 5.8%. The Fairfax Health District has seen 7 day average test positive rates have been steady in the 6-6.5% range. The Alexandria Districtâs rate has dropped to 4%. After a spike largely due to beach week, Loudounâs rate looks to be dropping again. |
Other countries are coming back to normal...

Anything today? |
Not only are a few vaccines in phase III, but a drug cocktail also is in phase III.
"An experimental double antibody cocktail for the treatment and prevention of COVID-19 is entering phase 3 human trials" https://www.timesnownews.com/health/article/coronavirus-prevention-regenerons-antibody-cocktail-regn-cov2-enters-phase-3-human-trials/617496 |
Treatment! That would be awesome. |
Seriously is there ever good news any more? |
