If you think this in any reduces support of Trump and republicans you are crazy. These people are true believers. Republicans could arrest and kill their families and their support would not waver.

The poll literally shows their support wavering.

Even if, you're talking about a big chunk of voters that won't bother voting next time. They'll be in the "everybody makes my life worse" camp.

Isn’t 40% the magic number? Below which the rest of the GOP will flee Trump? Aren’t we there yet?

Pew has Trump's approval at 37%. And:

"Only about a quarter of Americans today (27%) say they support all or most of Trump’s policies and plans, down from 35% when he returned to office last year. That change has come entirely among Republicans."

Also a lot of people think Trump will bring prices down to what they were before. There is NO way that will happen because deflation is very bad and the Fed will fight deflation with everything it has. They need to understand success is prices flatline, not prices going down. We are stuck with an affordability problem because US companies won’t be paying employees more.

They love him MORE for this. They don't care that he disrespects our democratic traditions. They love him for giving the Constitution the middle finger.

Classical Republicans have succeeded in one respect. I used to have nothing but sympathy for America’s white working poor. I supported policies designed to lift them up and help their families. The GOP has me thinking that maybe they were right about these poor folk all along. Maybe they do make bad decisions. Maybe it’s true that God only helps those that help themselves. Maybe they should rely on the charity of those that know them. Maybe the government should let them flounder until they are capable of doing better.

Feels gross to say it.
