Resolution opposing the extension passed easily.

Not surprising because it’s a rotten deal for DC that only benefits Maret, but does the resolution have any effect to reverse the Maret deal?

I agree. Tear up the deal and pay Maret back its money.

Market didn't give any money. They also haven't produced any receipts so we don't know how much they actually spent and how they accounted it.

Maret paid DC a substantial amount for use of the field. It would be a shame in Bowser and her friends had pocketed it for themselves.

You've been arguing about that for so long that uniforms are no longer archaic; they are back in vogue.

Does Hardy get to schedule its midnight basketball program at Jelleff?

At the PCA meeting last night, Ian Cameron mentioned that they were planning to put up $750k. The deal is even worse than advertised?

750,000 to redo the field and another $250,000 to help with the actual building renovations. So close to a million. It’s less than the original agreement because they were essentially starting from scratch, rebuilding a neglected ‘field’ that is now used by the British School for all school hours, Stoddert soccer, and countless other community athletic groups.

Divided by 10 years, that is 100K per year. For exclusive prime time use of a 15 million property. So an annual rate of hmmm lets see 0.6 percent. Thats a good deal!

For first 10 years, Maret paid for turf and fencing and pool renovations. Bowser was not in office in the early years of the deal, but Jack Evans was.

In some contexts he doesn't want to talk about the $250,000. He also said at that meeting that Maret had an arrangement that if they "lived up to their end of the agreement" the agreement would be automatically extended. While false, this has been a talking point that Maret has circulated widely among their community. The problem is, if that's true, why are they paying the $250,000 for building improvements?

The reality is DPR had the right to attach whatever conditions they wanted, all they "wanted" to ask for was $250K more than the cost of upkeep on the field.

Maybe a protest or something that would draw larger media attention?

Don’t forget that DC committed 7$mn to renovate the jelleff rec center recently. So that’s 22 mn$ for a public facility that DCPS kids can’t even use in afterschool hours. #goawaymaret

This all came to light in August, nearly two and a half months ago. In that time, there have been articles, press coverage, and hearings, and the result has been zero consensus on the Council to unwind the deal, and public statements from the Mayor saying that it will remain in place.

It's over. Let it go. Your recourse now is at the ballot box.

...says the Maret defender.

Not going to let it go, not going to forget and will absolutely remember it at the ballot box, when opponents to Bowser are fundraising, etc. And I don’t even have a child that is impacted and I do have friends with children at Maret.

This is exhibit one of complete corruption.

Does anyone have “Vote out Mayor Muriel Marion Barry Bowser” yard signs available?

But we don't know how much they actually spent and whether those repairs were done as (inflated) charitable contributions. I find it very interesting that they've not provided any details on that.
