VHSL Girls Lacrosse Spring 2023

Great game last night as hyped by many on the board. Oakton jumped out to an early 4-1 lead (1 goal by #11) and it appeared it may be a blow-out. But #23 face guarded #11 and only scored once more. 1 Yellow card by each team. #9 took over for Madison on offense feeding her teammates for goals - great offensive game plan by the Warhawks.

Madison was up 9-5 before Oakton started clawing back in. #11 scored to pull within one at 10-9. Then Madison had to hold off Oakton twice in the final 2 minutes as Oakton tried to tie it but turnovers both times under pressure.

Madison dominated the draws taking away another strength of Oakton's.

Sorry to ask but couldn’t watch last night.

I don’t recall #4 scoring. The play seemed clean. Typical yellows, but I liked the way the refs let the teams play. Too many refs are influenced by screaming parents who want a foul called for sneezing on the field. This doesn’t help the players and certainly won’t prepare those going on to play in college where many yellows in VA high school games will not even be called fouls at the next level.

From here on out, any team can show up and win. There hasn't been a team significantly better than another this season. The top 6 have been pretty evenly matched. Props to Madison.. and Oakton will be fired up.

Regions will be very interesting. Langley and Yorktown have their hands full in the first round. Quite possible could be semis of all Concorde teams as South Lakes and Centreville have legit game! Don’t see Madison or Oakton losing in first round. Semis will be awesome for sure.

Does anyone know if there will be any news coverage of any of the games deep in the playoffs?

Maybe I’m crazy but I’m excited to see Langley and Centreville play. No dog in the fight but I think we’re going to go just to see.

No one cares about college lacrosse. Go to that thread.
