As one of the FVU feeder clubs, seems odd they have none.

That is weird if they can’t even field Pre-ECNL teams, but I guess feeder club doesn’t mean much.
It isnt trolling on the girls side, Valor has the best record of the dumpster fire of teams, it is fact. Herndon doesn’t have enough players to field teams. I am fairly certain if you add up the wins and losses of all of the feeder teams in pre ecnl, lets say for girls, it will triple the number of losses compared to wins. This is gut feel, but i bet someone will figure it out and tell me I am in the ballpark.

Valor girls are 3rd and 2nd for U11 and U12 pre ecnl. No other feeder team comes close to that level of performance. As long as FVU is not overrun by McLean 2014 girls jumping over than it is safe to say Valor is the top dog in FVU girls for the foreseeable future. So, yes -- Valor did help save FVU's butt. The rest of the feeder clubs are a joke.

I just know this person has some Busch Gardens (Valor vs Valor final) rec tournament medals displayed in their home.

How are you so stupid to not understand that there is no such thing as a "feeder team"? Its all marketing and you are a sucker. FVU will take the best players who try out regardless of whether they played rec, Valor, or any other club, "alliance" or not.

Valor's training is *terrible*. Their kids can't compete technically.

All of this is true. Valor does not emphasize technical skills at all. Their most successful team (2013 boys who are all gone now) was full of talented kids who would have done well anywhere and/or were doing outside training. Many Valor coaches rely on kids who are fast and athletic, which doesn’t work as well for 11v11 or against the truly skilled teams.

Don’t know how this thread got hijacked by Valor but let’s be fair. Valor is no different from any other club in the area. No club is leading in every age group in both genders. Valor has some strong teams and some (maybe more) weak teams. In addition to the girls mentioned (2015 in 3rd and 2014 in 2nd), their current 2011 boys are in 2nd place also.

That said, the majority of next year’s 2014 FVU girls roster will likely be filled by Mclean’s preGA and Q3 Q4 McLean and FVU 2013 girls. Sure the coaches may get early looks at the “alliance” clubs. But the McLean 2014 girls are generally better
This is what I have been speculating as well. However, I am curious as to why Mclean 2014s wouldnt stay with Mclean?

Not trying to start an ECNL vs GA flame war but the stigma is still there that ECNL is still a higher league than GA. The Mclean girls who are content with GA will stay. Those who want ECNl will tryout for FVU.

If your kid is under 15, GA is the way. ECNL will fizzle out in the next year or two now that MLS next and GA are aligned.

The 13’s McLean team left GA for FVU and are now the best team. The stronger 12’s GA players are now migrating to ECNL. The 11’s migrated last year. It seems the actual stronger players do not agree with you. Not that any of this really matters. Forget about league and just worry about your DC’s development.

You're comparing 2 grains of sand on a very large beach. Right now ECNL is stronger but it's slowly going the other way. 2011's and older might as well stick it out with ECNL as they'll get you through the next few years but younger than that should be looking at GA teams.

How is it moving the other way? Are younger players leaving clubs for GA?

This whole “Valor is best among feeder clubs” for FVU is not actually a high bar. And they are not even the best among the “feeder clubs”.

Most of those “feeder clubs” are below the halfway mark in their own pre encl league. VYS has 3 out of 4 pre encl teams above the halfway mark. How is FVU supposed to compete against ecnl clubs without recruiting from better clubs?

They will be b/c GA is getting stronger and will continue to since they are now aligned with MLS Next. ECNL only got as big as it did b/c of the boys but now MLS next is the top destination for boys so makes sense that the GA will get stronger for girls.

No one was ever talking about the Valor boys. You can't deny that the Valor girls are ruling the pre-ecnl landscape and DOMINATING the other FVU feeder teams. My point is that FVU feeders are only respectable with Valor. Will McLean 2014 girls try and join FVU? Of course they will! I would still give the edge to Valor, but my point has always been that Valor dominates the FVU teams in pre-ecnl and will play a heavy role in FVU. You're welcome FVU.

Also, who are you that keeps on bringing up Vienna as if they are something special? Nobody -- and I mean NOBODY -- cares about Vienna.

Just because you say it and want it to be true, doesn’t make it true.

I don't *want* it to be true. GA is just building itself to be better all across the board. It will take a few years but it's already growing while ECNL is shrinking.

Side by side:

GA ideal for players aiming for national teams and top NCAA.

ECNL ideal for players wide-ranging players seeking competitive play at a national level.

Who wrote this? The GA BOD or a group of GA parents?

Clearly GA staffers wrote that.

No matter what evidence is presented in your face you simply reduce the debate to “trolls”. You have no vision and a small mind.

Villarreal 18
VYS 11
BRYC 6
Valor 3

I care about Vienna.

I care about Vienna! MV ‘til I die!

The McLean 2014s are not a super strong team like their predecessor. They are very beatable and will not dominate FVU tryouts.

I guess that answers the question: The MYS 2014s will have to stay at MYS because the Valor girls will be taking all the spots at FVU. They couldn't get onto an ECNL team even if they wanted.

I've seen up close both teams play this past season. Valor is stronger. No dog in this fight -- my DD does not play for either team. Just calling it like I see it.

I concur with this assessment. Valor looks much stronger than MYS this year. The one thing to consider is the tight relationship between McLean 2014 and the FVU coaches giving McLean the recruitment edge, but def not the strongest team out there.

Interesting... rankings app seems to think much more highly of the MYS team vs the Valor team, though they have almost no opponents in common. Both teams have had good wins and some bad losses this season. Rankings app says the last time they played each other was last April when it was a 7-1 game.

This is not the same Valor team as before. They are playing really well. MYS 2014 is mostly playing low level 2013 tournaments and patting themselves on the back for it. Not impressed.

I'm bored at practice Valor Dad, so I'll bite:
Since the two teams last played, according to the Rankings app, Valor has played in 3 tournaments

Pre-ECNL East Coast Cup - didn't advance
Lost to VA #5
Beat PA #30
Lost to NJ #8

WAGS 3rd division - finished second in their bracket and didn't advance
lost to NC #4 team
beat MD #6 team
beat NJ #13 team

Loudoun Cup - didn't advance
Lost to VA #5
Lost to VA #23
Beat VA #23

MYS has played in four tournaments:

Nations Cup - didn't advance
Tied PA #1 (2014 team)
Lost to PA #5 (2014 team)
Beat MD #13 (2013 team)

GA Regional Showcase (all 3 are 2014 teams playing up) - no opportunity to advance
Beat IL #46
Beat OK #4
Beat RNY team (unranked)

WAGS (playing up against 2013s in 7th division) - won the division
Tied TX #33
Beat PA #26
Beat SC #11
Beat VA #15

Copa Rayados (playing up against 2013s) - no opportunity to advance
Beat VA #29
Beat MD #19
Lost to MD #1

So.....
MYS record against 2014 top 10 teams 1-1-1
MYS record against 2013 top 10 teams 0-1

Valor record against 2014 top 10 teams 1-5

if you look at league games
MYS record against 2014 top 10 teams 1-0
MYS record against 2013 top 10 teams 2-3

Valor record against 2014 top 10 teams 2-2-1 (note that I am choosing not to include DCSC in there even though they're #1 in DC, but you can add the 7-0 win against them if you want even though they're #16 of 19 in VPSL)

for a total of:
MYS record against 2014 top 10 teams 2-1-1
MYS record against 2013 top 10 teams 2-4

Valor record against 2014 top 10 teams 3-7-1

looks like the MYS record against 2013 top 10 teams is about equivalent to Valor's record against 2014 top 10 teams. The MYS record against 2014 top teams is not amazing but at least it's positive. But I guess you said Valor is playing great, so congrats to your daughter's team.

I'll be curious to see where both sets of girls go next year since that'll affect where we end up next year

Most of those “feeder clubs” are below the halfway mark in their own pre encl league. VYS has 3 out of 4 pre encl teams above the halfway mark. How is FVU supposed to compete against ecnl clubs without recruiting from better clubs?

Breakdown of feeder clubs ranked in pre ecnl:
U12 Boys out of 22 teams
Herndon - no team fielded
Villarreal 19
Valor 15
LMVSC 12
BRYC 11
VYS 5

U12 Girls out of 19 teams
Herndon - no team fielded
Villarreal 19
BRYC 18
LMVSC 17
VYS 9
Valor 2

U11 Boys out of 22 teams
Herndon - no team fielded
Villarreal 21
LMVSC 14
Valor 12
BRYC 8
VYS 7

U11 Girls out of 18 teams
Herndon - no team fielded
LMVSC- no team fielded
Villarreal 18
VYS 11
BRYC 6
Valor 3

Valor is off until February so may be a while until Valor dad is bored at practice to respond.
