Single Issue Voter: Controlling The Borders

The United States has two problems: Overspending and open borders.

We can solve / control one problem with an executive order.

We need to elect someone committed to doing so.

There are no "open borders."

You. Are. Lying.

No. Open. Borders. None none none.

Thousands of migrants are turned away at our borders every day. Thousands are removed.

Stop posting this Russian propaganda.

He is debating a FRACTION of the people coming over.

This is from 2022:
According to the newly released report, the Biden administration dropped deportations by roughly 68% last year:
Deportations dropped from 185,884 in 2020 to just 59,011 in 2021.
This is the lowest level in 26 years, which dates back to before the agency of ICE was created.
According to the nonpartisan Migration Policy Institute, the average daily number of ICE detainees dropped to about 19,200 in 2021, the lowest level in over two decades.
ICE dropped administrative arrests in the interior of the U.S. by 28% in 2021, detaining just 74,082 compared to 104,000 during fiscal 2020.
https://www.gop.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=148#:~:text=According%20to%20the%20newly%20released,agency%20of%20ICE%20was%20created.

It has only gotten worse.

And, the number of CRIMINAL aliens has also fallen sharply:

In its Congressional Budget Justification for fiscal 2024, DHS provided a budget overview for ICE and included information about the numbers for the return and removal of "noncitizens who have a prior criminal conviction from the United States by ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO)."

In fiscal 2020, the last full year of the Trump administration, the agency aimed to deport 151,000 convicted criminal illegal immigrants, and deported just over 100,000. In fiscal 2021, the target was 97,440 and just 39,149 were removed. By 2022, the first full fiscal year of the Biden administration, the target had dropped to 91,500 and just over 38,000 had been deported.

So, you can claim our borders are not open, but the migrants know the reality - if they get to the border, the odds are that they will get in and be able to stay. And, their chances of staying increases even more if they have a child with them.

I don’t know that I’m a single issue voter (probably not) but I just had this conversation with my dad. He’s all about the border because he feels a country’s top priority is protecting its people. I feel that’s a reasonable priority but other things make me feel more threatened. In particular climate change (which will drive migration, terrorism, disasters etc).

Biden have let in 7,000,000 desperate illegal aliens. that will need shelter, food and health care, for themselves and their future families.

way to go Joe No Border Biden!

So… more people getting picked up is… bad? Or is that good? It’s certainly not an open border no matter what the cons want to pretend as they’re not ferrying them to a tea party.

YOU are the idiot. More people intercepted because millions more are crossing and turning themselves in.
The border IS open when anyone coming across can say "asylum" and be allowed to enter. Very few are deported.

Yes, “apprehensions” totally means “people turning themselves in.” Gosh the gyrations you’ll go through in order to explain how Trump was great but Biden isn’t.

DP. No one has said "Trump was great," but he sure as $hit was a vast improvement over Biden when it comes to the border. Only total partisan wackjobs like yourself would argue otherwise. The reason the border is the horrific crisis we see today is because Joe Biden made sure on his first day in office to reverse every single border protocol (except MPP) put into place by Trump. What an idiot.

It wasn’t trump. It was Covid. Policies changed during the pandemic because of the pandemic.

You just can't stop gaslighting, can you? Everyone is well aware that Biden, while campaigning for president and even after being elected, *invited* migrants to come. There are multiple videos of him doing so. C'mon, man.

CNN interview this morning with President Trump's former Defense Secretary Mark Esper discussed that, if reelected, President Trump would use Patriot missiles against targeted sites in Mexico to curtail drug lords. Are we there yet ?

Mark Esper proposed working with Mexican government in joint military operations against drug production facilities in Mexico.

While my emotions support such drastic action, it might result in a Mexican invitation to the Chinese government to set up military bases in Mexico.

Please share your thoughts.

Thank you in advance.

Mark Esper noted in the CNN interview this morning that the US held joint military operations with the Colombian government to hit illegal drug production facilities in the country of Colombia.

Do you support such action in Mexico ? Do you support such action in Mexico even without the support & cooperation of the Mexican government (as many believe that the Mexican government is controlled by drug lords).

That sounds like a great way to encourage a mass exodus into the US.

I disagree because the targets will be specific facilities engaged in the processing of illicit drugs. This will not be carpet-bombing of a country.

Likely to discourage illegal immigration into the US as non-citizens will understand that the US is serious about enforcing its laws.

UST IN: Footage has been released of migrants wreaking havoc at the Southern Border last night near El Paso, first reported by
@ElPasoYa
.

Rest assured: The border is completely secure according to the Biden White House.

In the clip, the migrants appear to be chanting "Si se puede" which means "yes, it can be done” or “yes you can.”

The number of migrant encounters at the southern border has already surpassed last year's total as the president continues to ignore the crisis.

Shameful.

Seems that this issue has become too politically troublesome for this administration.
I truly thought I was reading a piece from the Babylon Bee.

I've been told walls don't work.

We've also been told - by Mayorkas - that the border is secure.

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said Wednesday there is an “acute and immediate need” to build border wall in southern Texas, and issued an order waiving some of the country’s most iconic environmental protection laws to speed up construction.
Mr. Mayorkas identified dozens of miles of border where he plans to build a barrier and roads, and where he indicated those environmental laws would be a hindrance.
“There is presently an acute and immediate need to construct physical barriers and roads in the vicinity of the border of the United States in order to prevent unlawful entries into the United States in the project areas,” Mr. Mayorkas said in an official filing in the Federal Register. “In order to ensure the expeditious construction of the barriers and roads in the project areas, I have determined that it is necessary that I exercise the authority that is vested in me by section 102(c) of IIRIRA.”

The Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigration Responsibility Act gives the Homeland Security secretary the power to waive laws when necessary to facilitate border construction.
Mr. Mayorkas’s waiver covers 26 federal laws, including the Endangered Species Act, the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, the Eagle Protection Act and the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act.

Well, well, well. How very interesting. All that bluffing and spluttering about how a wall “just couldn’t be built!!” due to environmental factors. Turns out, a wall should ABSOLUTELY have been built, back when Trump was trying to get it done and being shot down at every turn by idiot Democrats.

Just gotta say it: we told you so.

I guess Biden’s handlers have realized this is a losing issue for 2024. Obviously, that’s the *only* reason they’re doing what Republicans have been advocating for years. They’re clearly desperate.

Glad it is happening. It is too little too late.
His polls are horrible on the border. I am sure he is hoping this improves them. It won't.

And, like pp said...... "We told you so."
