Why would they switch to FVU? The other top teams in the area are Arlington, Loudoun, and SYC. If they wanted to get on a 'better' team, why would they move to FVU instead of those other clubs? The other 'union' members don't bring much to the table at this age group.

Because they will take best players from anywhere that want ECNL, not just from members.
Why would they switch? Why did the 2013s switch? SYC players went to McLean and Arlington, so not sure about your list. I have no clue what they will do, but it will be interesting to see. If they move to FVU then most of the aligned teams have limited room because that pathway is the only hope they got for the majority of players.

Those players can also try out for any GA or ECNL team? Or RL/EDP is fine if that is the player’s level. You don’t get a guaranteed “pathway” just for being part of a club. Put in some work and do outside training if they want it.

DP and this is correct. Realistically only the best few players from all of the “pre” teams will end up on an ECNL or GA team unless they’re already at a club that has ECNL or GA as its top level AND they are good enough not to be bumped out of their spot by someone from outside. For everyone at the so called feeder clubs it’s a big bottleneck from what are actually pre ECNL RL or pre GA Aspire teams.
Also, I am not sure how anyone associated with these teams cant be super nervous that what happened last year, wont happen again. It is well documented on these forums that CW recruited the 2013s because he knew how good they are. McLean 2014s are better than all of the aligned clubs and have had much more exposure to CW and DB, assuming he is still around next year. That said, unless you have been getting exposure throughout the fall, these coaches are going to take who they know and not random kids that show up to tryouts. Also, GA tryouts are February so there is always that issue of, do you take that or run the risk of delaying acceptance, etc. until ECNL tryouts in March.

That would be sad for Valor rising person.

I don’t think any full team is shifting over intact this year, and assume they don’t all have early birthdays with the age change. Probably want to be reaching out to the club soon, maybe can join some training session prior to tryouts.

The MYS 2013s went to FVU to reunite with DB and CW, who coached them from u9-u12. The MYS 2014s were with DB for 1 rocky year. So if FVU wants them, it's going to be harder to recruit a whole team over like they did with the 2013s since there's not the same long-term relationship with the families

Ok, but doesnt make anything I said untrue. It also set a precedent. MYS will try to lock them up on February, so I guess you will know come tryouts

Maybe, McLean families can probably afford a deposit.

As one of the FVU feeder clubs, seems odd they have none.

That is weird if they can’t even field Pre-ECNL teams, but I guess feeder club doesn’t mean much.
It isnt trolling on the girls side, Valor has the best record of the dumpster fire of teams, it is fact. Herndon doesn’t have enough players to field teams. I am fairly certain if you add up the wins and losses of all of the feeder teams in pre ecnl, lets say for girls, it will triple the number of losses compared to wins. This is gut feel, but i bet someone will figure it out and tell me I am in the ballpark.

Valor girls are 3rd and 2nd for U11 and U12 pre ecnl. No other feeder team comes close to that level of performance. As long as FVU is not overrun by McLean 2014 girls jumping over than it is safe to say Valor is the top dog in FVU girls for the foreseeable future. So, yes -- Valor did help save FVU's butt. The rest of the feeder clubs are a joke.

I just know this person has some Busch Gardens (Valor vs Valor final) rec tournament medals displayed in their home.

How are you so stupid to not understand that there is no such thing as a "feeder team"? Its all marketing and you are a sucker. FVU will take the best players who try out regardless of whether they played rec, Valor, or any other club, "alliance" or not.

Valor's training is *terrible*. Their kids can't compete technically.

All of this is true. Valor does not emphasize technical skills at all. Their most successful team (2013 boys who are all gone now) was full of talented kids who would have done well anywhere and/or were doing outside training. Many Valor coaches rely on kids who are fast and athletic, which doesn’t work as well for 11v11 or against the truly skilled teams.

Don’t know how this thread got hijacked by Valor but let’s be fair. Valor is no different from any other club in the area. No club is leading in every age group in both genders. Valor has some strong teams and some (maybe more) weak teams. In addition to the girls mentioned (2015 in 3rd and 2014 in 2nd), their current 2011 boys are in 2nd place also.

That said, the majority of next year’s 2014 FVU girls roster will likely be filled by Mclean’s preGA and Q3 Q4 McLean and FVU 2013 girls. Sure the coaches may get early looks at the “alliance” clubs. But the McLean 2014 girls are generally better

Not trying to start an ECNL vs GA flame war but the stigma is still there that ECNL is still a higher league than GA. The Mclean girls who are content with GA will stay. Those who want ECNl will tryout for FVU.

No one has a crystal ball to be able to give any specific foresight accurately. Too many factors for next season (including age group changes).

The McLean 2014s are not a super strong team like their predecessor. They are very beatable and will not dominate FVU tryouts.

This is what I have been speculating as well. However, I am curious as to why Mclean 2014s wouldnt stay with Mclean?

The McLean 2014s are not a super strong team like their predecessor. They are very beatable and will not dominate FVU tryouts.

I guess that answers the question: The MYS 2014s will have to stay at MYS because the Valor girls will be taking all the spots at FVU. They couldn't get onto an ECNL team even if they wanted.

I've seen up close both teams play this past season. Valor is stronger. No dog in this fight -- my DD does not play for either team. Just calling it like I see it.

I concur with this assessment. Valor looks much stronger than MYS this year. The one thing to consider is the tight relationship between McLean 2014 and the FVU coaches giving McLean the recruitment edge, but def not the strongest team out there.
