Once virus runs its course, this is what happens.

But the interesting thing is that about, what? 20%% of New Yorkers have had covid or test positive for antibodies? There is increasing support for the theory that "herd immunity" doesn't require a 60% infection rate (also, see Italy). It also makes me wonder if there is something to the idea that approximately 40% of the population has T-cell immunity through infection from other coronaviruses.

New York's high death rate is largely due to doing a lousy (I would say criminally negligent) job of protecting nursing home residents, and other hospital management issues.

This was posted on another thread, but this paper has data on death risk by age group. If we focus on protecting the vulnerable, the risk to healthy younger people is low.

But this article is using the entire population instead of the percent assumed to have had Covid.

More on this..

One of the county's 13 "triggers," which could cause the county to take industry-specific actions, pause all reopening efforts, or even dial back reopenings, would be having seven recorded community outbreaks within a week. The county remains "green" on all 13 triggers.
Cox said movie theaters that reopened Friday follow similar occupancy rules to churches, with a maximum of 25% of the room's capacity or 100 customers, or whichever is lowest, and typical sanitizing and facial coverings required while in line.

1. Support bubbles begin today in England and NI

There is good news for the millions of people who live alone in England and NI this morning - they will be allowed to see some loved ones for the first time since the lockdown began. New rules mean people who live alone - or, in England, single parents living with children - can form a support bubble with one other household, allowing them to hug, visit someone's home and even stay overnight.

Paywall,
could you please paste few key things?

Sorry!

The gradual steps toward reopening came as the District, Maryland and Virginia on Monday reported their lowest number of deaths attributed to the novel coronavirus since early April, part of a downward trend that officials have cited in allowing more nonessential businesses to reopen for the first time since March.

It's a common steroid. They found it only helps seriously ill patients already on supportive oxygen or a vent. I can't imagine this isn't already standard treatment in the US for patients in the ICU.

Also, media:. Please emphasize solid RCT data shows no dexamethasone benefit to people not on respiratory support. Not useful till people need ventilator or oxygen. No logic to hoarding or prophylactic use. Corticosteroids suppress the immune system. Not to be taken willy-nilly.
